I actually really enjoy the Sigma 6 figures. They are big, which my son really liked, and they just had a cool look and feel to them. The accessories were pretty badass too. I wasn't collecting when this line was in stores but I've definitely picked a bunch of them up since. They are great toys for kids for sure.

Yeah I'm not calling for a revival of Sigma 6 or anything, just saying, there were some positives. I actually don't really like the earlier releases, but I like a lot of the later figures. I do think they were too stylized. Even the figures I like, the 2007 ones, could have been toned down in that regard. But I will also say, that I feel realism in toys/action figures is overrated. I like a little exaggeration or stylization. I think kids do as well. The 80s ARAH O-ring figures were stylized, they weren't realistic. And they have a lasting charm and appeal to them. And obviously kids loved them. So I don't know. Sigma 6 had plenty of problems, it's not ideal. But neither is Classified. The GI Joe toy line that strikes all the right balances to really strike my fancy in just the right way, remains elusive.

Smoother joints, a 6" scale, a toned down stylization (but still a bit stylized), the awesome approach to accessories, a smattering of bright/neon color pops - maybe this could have made a formula for a fun modern GI Joe line.

My boys cut their joe teeth on Sigma 6. We were buying everything Joe at that time and while attending the GI Joe Club Convention in Minnesota my wife and two boys bumped into the Hasbro Team! We all met up again on an elevator where they guys asked if they could send the boys a couple of the new toys from the newly introduced line…a couple of weeks later the boxes started to arrive….and the boys were hooked. We ended up with the entire first series direct from the design team. They were really a great design for my 5 and 3 year olds! Solid cartoon good theme song…my guys became fast friends and we met up with the team every year at the conventions!

What is a sigma? It’s the Greek letter that represents the “s” sound lol!
Seriously though I think the hang up that collectors have with S6 has to do with how the line was introduced. In the mid 2000’s there were the 3 3/4” guys collecting the new sculpt line and the 12” collectors with their own line. When Hasbro brought out the S6 line, they cancelled both of the pre-existing lines, which ticked everyone off at the time. I was one of those people, but over time I began to appreciate some of the S6 line. I currently have about 36 S6 guys, including 2 that were cancelled (Dusty and Short Fuze). The Dusty is one of my favorite figures in the line because he manages to incorporate the Adventure Team appeal perfectly while also sticking very true to the character of Dusty. I also like the articulated scorpion. The Adventure Team Storm Shadow is also one of my favorites, and I really like the Iron Grenadier. I would love to see Hasbro eventually come out with some of the more iconic Sigma Six designs in a modern era format |

Here they are. The Dusty is complete but Short Fuze is missing his drones.
Yeah I know, that Totally doesn’t look anything like Short Fuze, but it is a cool design I think. Last edited by Dem_Yoe'z!; 07-10-2021 at 10:06 PM.. |

^ Yes see, those are what I'm talking about. By 2007 they were really hitting their stride and the designs and builds were so much better.
This, but in 6" and with toned-down stylization, would make a cool modern kid-friendly line.
