HEY HEY, SIGMA SIX DUDES! Friday night! Crack open a beer!
I've had 2 of the Collectors' Club Sigma scale Red Ninja for years. I've never looked at the parachutes until today. I assumed they were like every other toy parachute I've seen over the years, a big circular piece of material with a coupla bits of string on them. You chuck the figure off the first floor and hear that familiar 'clak' of plastic faceplanting tarmac. Then I opened up a Sigma Six parachute. Wow. Just WOW. THIS is the parachute every military action figure should have had when we were kids! All four edges curved down, stitched to retain a cohesive box shape as your Joe hits the DZ, little slit gaps between the corners to allow some air passage, so the trooper doesn't flip over... After 5 years, the Sigma Six line is still impressing me with constant innovation. The Sigma scale showed us stuff we'd never seen before, and chances are, never will see again. G.I.JOE SIGMA SIX! C'm'on, shout it with me! |

It is the same parachute as the Sigma 6 8-inch Paratrooper Duke & the Sigma 6 8-inch Paratrooper Snake Eyes but in a different color and logo, right?

YEEEEEEEAAAAAAHHH!!! They're the freakin' BEST!

So the 'chute is one piece, with all four sides folded and stitched, but just at the loer corners, so there are gaps between each corner of the meeting material, allowing air to filter through them. I would chuck it off the fron of the house and snap some pics of a Joe hitting the silk, but I don't think I can run down the stairs fast enough to catch it on camera! |

If "Sigma 6" had been a toyline all its own, actually called Sigma 6 ala Ben 10, and not an evolution of GI Joe. I actually think it may have done well on it's own merits. The backlash came from the fact that non Joe fans wouldn't give it a chance, and the hardcore 3 3/4" Joe fans had no interest, so the line was kind of in no mans land, add on to that a craptastic cartoon, and they had a recipe for disaster.
