"whalemuseum?" Sorry to be off topic, I see you're from Belgium... But do you have roots in New Bedford, MA? Just asking because that's where I live and we're one of the oldest, if not the oldest, whaling towns in New England. We're "The Whaling City" and we have a whaling museum, spent many a middle school field trip there...
Off topic: Yeah, I'm from Belgium, and I live in Ghent, Flanders. I have some family and friends in the States though. Most of my family there have migrated there at the beginning of the 20th century and are a bit spread out all over the country nowadays. I like visiting the States a couple of times per year, I really like the cities, the national parks and the American spirit! Oh yeah, the reason for the nickname: There was a sticker on my dorm room door that came from the Whale Museum in San Diego; someone put it up there and the nickname kind of stuck. Terrible toy run today..man all my usual stores have the same thing.
On an interesting note. The AJwright in brighton is closing. Not any Joe figures, but they have Marvel universe figures at 3.99 plus 30% off them

Not sure if you've heard, but ALL AJ Wright stores will be closing soon, TJX made the decision a couple of months ago so we're just starting to see them close now. At least there will still be TJ Maxx and Marshall's to get cheap joes at.

Back from my little USA trip, and still de-jetlagging!
Although I bought a lot of Joe-stuff, it was kind of a mixed bag; some big Walmarts barely had anything and most stuff were the usual peg-warmers. But I did find some pretty cool stuff, including some of the TRU exclusive ROC and POC figures. And at Marshall's at Copley square right in center Boston there's still a heap of 25th BATs, ROC Desert Vipers and Hall of Heroes figures (well, not as many after I left :-). The grand prize must have been my brand new POC Snake-Eyes though, he has the ultra-rare 'two left hands' variant... :-) Already restored it with a spare right hand, although not ultra-articulated. Anyways, I had a great time in the US, and thanks again for all the tips! |
