Nothing against folks who eat there, but I had a really poor experience. Perhaps your times there have been better...
I went a Chipotle once. ONCE. OMFG they fucked up my order so bad. They got the orders wrong, totally overloaded the burritos, made the whole thing a soggy torn apart mess and dumped it in this shit little plastic basket that had no shot in hell of holding the monstrosity they concocted. They actually had to remake the entire order again because they botched it so bad. They remade it...and met the same results. Adding to that, the whole thing was a big flavorless pile of fixings. The meats had no taste. You had to eat it with a fork, couldn't even hold the thing with your hands. The drinks were so watered down, no flavor, they tasted like an empty drink someone refilled with water. Awful. The only reason I paid for the meal was because they were the only place open, serving food (we ate late that night). Will never go there again. Instead, I go to Boloco in Warwick in the plaza with Panera. Place is awesome, food is great, and so is the service. Fuck Chipotle.

Steak Burrito at Chipotle is the best. Never got sick, never had a bad experience.
Chili's is another story. Garbage food that can turn a cast iron stomach to aluminum. |

With me, it depends what you eat there. However, after going on a diet and eating better, going back to those restaurants after a long absence shows me how my body has become less used to taking in those foods. What I used to have no problem digesting would now either make me feel like I shouldn't have eaten it (not in the nauseous sense, just the "oh that wasn't healthy" sense) or the foods go through me within the following hours. Must be all the fats/grease.

We have a Chipotle up the street, gotta clarify here a little. I don't get their burritos because agreed they are too fat and end up soggy with all the sour cream and guacamole and 6 pounds of food. Too hard to eat. But I am a fan of the taco, their shells are tasty and the carnitas are well done. And I can feed my baby guacamole.
That being said, living by Somerville spoiled me on ethnic food. I know a place is good when you walk in and they don't speak English. I had to point at things on the menu at a local favorite. Just had a discussion on Chipotle at work. Actually Mcdonalds was a huge investor in the late 90's to get them where they were are now then they just recently jumped out. Explains why they are so popular.

Yeah, there are a few "start up" companies that act like they made it on their own but secretly had huge investors backing them. No true fairytale success stories there.
