I bet she's gone, I'd go, you're going to regret it! I got a Puck MOC last night for 14 shipped(several more around there) and bidding on a loose Guardian. They are many also, around 2-5 dollars loose. Ebay blows my mind sometimes....here were people bidding 20plus dollars for a loose one when there are cheaper MOC versions available. Anyone sightings of Northstar anywhere?

Puck is 9.99 at my stop and shop.
Idk, I never got the old alpha flight figures and never regretted it. I really don't know much about AF. I guess if I got them I'd stick them in the back of an x-men display, but they'd be back there with longshot and capt. Britian. Misc. non X-men but X related distantly.... Idk. Called target to see about her and she's gone, so I'm kind of meh about it. I passed on the Inhumans box set for the very same reason.

RICC was a pretty hopping place today. Saw Shadow Ninja holding back the rabid MMPR fans (looking good in that fluorescent green "volunteer" shirt.)
The dealers area was pretty crappy. Surprisingly Toy Vault might have had the best deals. They had a bunch of 25th for $5 - Crimson Guard, Resolute Cobra Trooper, Python Patrol CG, Vipers, among others. They had the Aquaman/Shazam and Flash/??? Injustice sts for $18 each. I grabbed the Lady Jaye/Roadblock/Destro DVD pack for $15. Dropped some serious cash on the Star Wars Bounty Hunter Reunion and others from the OT. Going back tomorrow just to walk around and get some more photos with the Rancor, Jabba, etc. Today was all about the autographs. Some very nice Cosplay outfits. Took a couple photos. Sorry, no sexy ladies, although there were some. |

Went to RI comic con because we are friends with the guys who created the thing and our third friend was working there with artist Kevin Lyle, who is another stand up guy. If you happen to stop in, swing by his booth and feel free to help support the wounded warrior project. Our vets put their own lives, limbs, and families on the line so that we can enjoy the safety and freedoms we take for granted each day. Return the favor and help support them, it's the least you could do.
I originally didn't plan to go to the con but my brother and I got the invite late this morning, and after getting ready and then finally finding a parking spot on the roof (never have I seen the center this packed, not even for sporting events or the Who), we didn't enter the dealer room until noonish. Didn't go last year but the general consensus with everyone I talked to was that it has improved tenfold. It seemed well organized with the only obstacle being the crowds... The place was packed to the gills and reminded me well of why I hate going to these things. And I thought Megafest was crowded... The crowds here moved like the dead with absolutely no organization at all. People tried to make two lanes, but it was useless. People would stop, jam, crowd around a particular vendor. The only instance where I could understand a crowd stop was when some cosplay folks had to stop and pose for people that wanted to snap photos. The cosplay zombies actually moved fast, maybe they were the Zach Snyder variety. I can't tell you how many times I was stuck behind someone who was playing a game on their phone or Nintendo DS, aimlessly wandering around, sometimes walking right into me, not even looking at any of the dealers. Oh man, one guy was actually playing a game while at the same time, shopping through items at a booth. Shit man, is there a pause button on that thing? If you're going to wander around like this, DON'T. Go sit down in a goddamn chair off in a corner and cut your fucking ropes far away from everyone else. Moving on... Many folks were in costume. I'd say it was around 25%-40% in costume. Some really good, some just thrown thrown together, some clearly just Halloween outfits, but hey, we're all here to have fun. The dealers were alright. We found some nice items at prices below retail, but the majority of stuff consisted of new items that had either come it recently or were just hitting retailers and much of it was overpriced. There were also a lot of head scratching moments of finding $1-5 bargin bin toybiz figures priced at ridiculous $30 each. The fuck? Some dealers were selling bootleg stuff, like fake Japanese items that even copied the official labels, really worrisome stuff if you are a collector and know how to spot fakes. Any other dealers were selling a various assortment of figures, statues, comics, memorabilia, etc. there were a lot of artist type vendors selling their own crafts, customs, and creations. Toy Vault did have really good deals. I was surprised. If their stores had items priced like they did at this con, I would probably buy from them much more often. Their deals were so good, I was a bit bummed that their booth wasn't bigger. They were the place to drop cash at the show. I did see the new NECA Kenner Predators. They are really nice looking. Very impressive with vibrant colors and great paint work. Don't ignore these. One good thing about any Neca Predators at the show was that they were all pretty much marked at retail price, so if your are looking for them, go check it out. One guy in particular had about 8 of the recent sdcc albino predator. As for Joes, it was pretty disappointing. I saw a bagged Burger King roc snake eyes for $3, a 7-11 roc snake eyes slurpee straw, 2 roc unmasked storm shadows for $5 each, an assortment of wave 1 Retaliation figures (black commander assortment) for $10 each, a retaliation hiss tank, a retaliation snake eyes cycle, some target joe vehicles from 25-roc, a chromed night raven box, 25th wave 2 joe and cobra 5-packs, a sdcc wrestling outfit sgt. Slaughter for $70, some spy troops 2-packs, $15 dollar general blue snake eyes or blue shipwreck, club sub wave 1 figures for about 40-60 each, a con lady jaye for ?$125?, a bunch of $5 25th joes at Toyvault, a table that had 25th-30th joes for around 10-12 each (POC cobra commander, 30th steel brigade, renegades duke, renegades cobra commander, 25th resolute cobra commander, blowtorch, the bearded Dreadnok, beachhead, disguised flint, guys like that), various vintage loose joes, 25th afa graded joes, various original-hall of fame 12 inch joes, and lastly, there were a few dealers with overpriced sdcc joe/transformers crossover sets (all 3 sets). So yeah, nothing fantastic. Toy vault's $5 25th joes seemed like the best of it. As for Marvel Universe, I did see much of the me costume wolverine wave and the new black costume iron man wave. All the figures you guys are discussing were not present. There were transformers, but again nothing earth shattering. They were a bit pricey, but the selection spanned from sealed gen.1-now, with sdcc and store exclusives present. One guy who is also a member on TFW had some really neat exclusive items that you could only buy at the Orlando universal studios. A big plastic gen.1 bumblebee and some cute Optimus and bee plushies. As for attractions, the artist alley and autograph area were huge. GameStop had their own little area where folks could try-out new games and see if they were worth buying. There was a MASSIVE Rancor sculpture and a huge Jabba the Hutt puppet that folks could have their photo taken with. I saw a few Providence cops and firemen having a blast posing with these. There were also movie vehicles around the floor, booths that covered special effects, prop casting and fabrication, costume construction, and even on-site 3d printed buttons, jewelry, and statues. Met an ex Hasbro person who once again left me with lukewarm impressions of the company's current behavior. Idk what it is, maybe the layoffs, but I keep running into more and more folks that wish their experience working there could have been better than it was. :/ The most surprising part of this con was, unlike pretty much any other toy show/collectible/pop culture con I've been to, is that nobody smelled. That's right, no dragon breath, no "I got up today and didn't shower" stench. Folks actually smelled quite pleasant. Considering the packed shoulder-to-shoulder atmosphere, I really appreciated that. I promise myself I wouldn't buy anything, but I ended up waking out $75 lighter. All items sealed, I spent $10 on 2 old toybiz x-men figures (water wars sentinel and AOA Holocaust) and a trend masters black armor cyclon (it was buy 2 get 1 free), $8 on a Tetsujin-28 trading figure from mugen Toys for my brother, $5 on a Dr. Henry Jones figure, $10 on a transformers human alliance moon buggy robot, and from Toyvault $12 on a Neca dead space 2 Isaac Clarke and $30 on a Medicom MaFex The Dark Knight Rises Batman (OMG this figure is amazing. Movie Masters are garbage compared to this masterpiece). And as a surprise, I was given a Loyal Subjects Grimlock trading figure. But guys, seriously, this MaFex Batman is amazing. He is in scale with the movie masters and can even fit on the movie masters batpod! For $40 on BBTS, you should check it out. I would probably have bought the Neca Kenner Preds and a marvel legends iron man series Ultron, but since much of this was newer stuff that I could get in stores, and I wanted to have the option of a return policy god forbid anything was defective with them, I decided to pass on these items. As for the con itself, the reception and turnout to it was much greater than expected. You can expect next years to be even bigger. Might see more movie cars...Prepare yourselves, 2014 is coming. Overall I had a good time but man, do I hate crowds. Oh and don't forget, the Green Ranger Tommy Oliver (Jason David Frank) will be at the con tomorrow only with some special event planned. If you want to see him and get something signed, tomorrow is the day.

I've been curious about the Toy Vault ever since I went into one.
Disclaimer: I'm not trying to insult anyone who has a friend there or who works there. It's fun to go in there and geek out with a tone of toy lines I haven't seen in years but I can't believe they sell anything. Many of their loose SW and Joe vehicles are in rough shape but the prices are ridiculously high. Why would anyone go there with this little thing called eBay out there? |

That's a very comprehensive con report, netkid. Your experiences pretty much mirror mine.
I will say it was very well organized. Boston Comic Con has struggled with getting people in when the con opens. For only being in it's second year, we were on the convention floor with no problem. Quote:

I never heard of this but after looking it up I want one. I'm heading back today so I'll have to be on the lookout for it. MM Bane needs a friend. |

Funny you mention that. At the bag checker, my friend mentioned he only had a sweatshirt and some deodorant in his bag. The check scoffed so I told him it's not a common thing to have con goers care about their personal hygiene. He said many people smelled pretty good. Weird conversation at the time but it's funny you had the same experience. I never heard of this but after looking it up I want one. I'm heading back today so I'll have to be on the lookout for it.
