For you long time sellers out there.... with the Joe Con in April, is there a time frame before and after the con ebay buying slows down?
When will people start saving for and then recover from, enough so they will start bidding again?

I see a lot of these sellers trying to get ridiculous prices for Joe stuff and the market isn't there for it anymore..

I personally am dumping stuff now. I have learned that things ten to drop even more over time. Had a lot of SW stuff that was fetching $$$ and fell drastically and isn't worth crap now. Sold a compete Flagg for $400 to a friend so I wouldn't have to bother paying ebay fees and having to ship it. I sold my unused Flagg for $1200 last year. Back in 2010 I had originally sold it for $2500 but they guy was a shady buyer so ebay told me I should cancel the auction with him as they had view his emails.. So in 2 year time it dropped by half and now is about the same price sometimes even lower!
This is the exact reason I only buy what I like and take my toys out of the package. The collectibles market isn't what is once was and I'd rather enjoy my toys. I no longer see them as an investment but rather a means of reconnecting with some of the better parts of my childhood.

The same holds true for my comic collection. Unless it's a silver age or key appearance, they're worthless. Now I read them, bag them, box them and will eventually sell them off to a comic shop for pennies on the dollar.

The best time to sell is Feb to March. People are getting their taxes back. Things tend to go for a little more then.

I'm the same type of collector.. I have no room to be storing boxes and trying to keep them in perfect shape. Just like everything things come and go. First it was Baseball Cards, Football cards, Basketball cards etc.. in the late 80's to early 90's. Then it became comics and all the fancy covers like foil covers and bubble covers then that died out then it was collectibles and even that seems to becoming to a close with the kids palying more video games and not caring about toys anymore.

Yes and no, people are recouping from the nightmare of credit cards they used for Christmas..lol

Even that tax returns are getting smaller. I wouldn't be surprised to see the end of tax returns in the future. This country is in deep shit financially...

I agree. Luckily I did not pay current retail for any of my GI Joes. I bought all of them before or at the point where I could go to a flea market and buy any fig I wanted complete for 5 bucks. Micky Mouse CC was $20. I would not miss my ARAH Joes now that I have so many modern era figs. Same with Transformers. I have a ton of G1 stuff but I am afraid that all of the reissues has killed the market for them. Why would some one want a beat up G1 when they can get a brand new complete reissue for the same if not less $.

All of my vintage toys have been packed away for so long I don't see the point in holding on to them. I was never expecting them to be my retirement fund, but I would love to be able to easily get rid of them for a respectable ammount. And I hate Ebay too. One of the only things I ever sold was to you. lol I love it for buying but they rape you for selling. I need to organize and take pics of all my crap. I really just want to run into a collector with unlimited funds who will take complete collections from me. Parting them out is going to kill me.

Oh and BTW my current girlfriend has no Idea how many toys I actually own. I have all of my MOTUC out and most of my MU and DC figs but Everything vintage and modern era is packed away in a closet or in the basement. And I have every toy I ever had as a kid and more. Star Wars, Super Powers, Crystar, Secrete Wars, T-Cats, Air raiders you name it I still got it. And through in 6 full long boxes of comics I recently had to take from my parents house. They outgrew there welcome under the pool table and now I have to live with them.

Wow that sounds eerily familiar. I am in the process of unloading all our old toys, my brother has washed his hands of it. The comic boxes are in my house. I am just starting dealing with the ebay selling now. No hiccups yet; just a pushy guy from France.

I know I can't keep it all, so I have a different outlook on it now, any cash I get is gravy because they would have been in a dumpster if I hadn't taken them all.

Is there a big market for Chuck Norris Karate Commandos these days? ha.
