In other news, it looks like Fesifisky's recent discovery of a Renegades Storm Shadow/actual case of Wave 3 at TRU was not a unique incident. I went to the Peabody TRU yesterday where I found a suspicious group of leftover wave 3 joes:
•Hazard Viper •Renegades Scarlett •Renegades Ripcord •Renegades Tunnel Rat •Renegades Cobra Trooper •Renegades Firefly X2 All of the above figures except for ONE of the Renegades Fireflies, had the same date stamp, which IIRC was "12481" (which, if you're familiar with Julian date numerical translation, translates to the 248th day of 2011, or September 5th, 2011 being their factory production date). Typically, with Hasbro at least, it takes a few months for the figures to hit store shelves once they have been stamped like this. Meaning that figures with this date stamp would be considered "overdue" to be in stores this late. However, the biggest giveaway here is the Hazard Viper, who was last shipped with wave 3 and would not have the same date stamp as the rest of these familiar wave 3 figures UNLESS he was shipped in the case with them. The bottom line is that this was undoubtedly a bonafide case of wave 3 and not just wave 4 leftovers, so somebody in Peabody snagged a Renegades Storm Shadow within the last week (I was there last Sunday as well). That would likely explain the Cobra Troops and Renegades Troopers, as well as HV's I've seen in some TrU's lately where they didn't have any of those the pevious times I had been.
Didn't think to check the date stamps, but that's a good idea.

Can I assume I'm not included in that since depending what you drive you'd proably pay more than the Skystriker's price for the gas to get out here to Western Mass and back to Boston?

Damned you guys and your cars! Some of us are stuck on the MBTA!!!
that being said. I hit Newbury comics (Harvard, Fanuel Hall) ... unfortunately they have begun scalping their prices. they had all the Avengers figs for 12.99, but the "rare" unmasked Captain America for a whopping 17 bucks! they also had the storm/ Psylock MU wave for 14. bucks. no joes though. Hobby Bunker in Malden still has Star wars vehicles for sale (Leave the Naboo cruiser alone, its MINE!!!!) oh Ive also gotten hooked on the Star Trek Heroclix spaceships, so if anyone sees any, let me know.

For example: SW vintage Bastila Shan cost $29.99, while a less popular AOTC Anakin might cost $12.99 NECA single-packed ninja turtles all cost like $16.99 while only Raphael cost $19.99 Pretty sure this has been going on for years, I remember their spawn figures being overpriced about 15 years ago too. Hasnt Newbury always done this? For as long as I can remember, they overprice and underprice certain figures depending on their popularity and demand. They can get away with it because they're an independently owned specialty shop.

Sounds cool and I'm sure it will be fun, but I'll pass on a 3-hour trip to NY to hang out with a bunch of guys I don't know when we have such a great group of guys right here in MA and RI. Let's start the Bay-State vipers! ;) |
