![]() Robotech is the American bastardization of a Japanese anime series named Macross which premiered in 1983. The two diverge in the way their stories are told, but it's basically all the same footage. In Japan, Bandai created a toy transforming Valkyrie fighter (called Veritechs in Robotech) and sold it as the VF-1 series. Later, when Transformers became popular, Takara (and hence, Hasbro) used the EXACT same Bandai mold to create Jetfire. Some extremely rare Jetfires even have the original Macross UNS logo factory printed on their wings. The only reason I mention all of this is because Macross is one of my very favorite things of all time, and it's the 25th anniversary of the original series' premiere. Not too many people I ever talk with about Robotech know where it actually came from. The newest series, Macross Frontier, is currently airing in Japan. I'm impressed that you recognized the Ben Dixon (or Hayao Kakizaki, if you prefer) VF-1. Good find! |

Ooooh, I'm gonna be a toy snob for just a second! Please forgive me, I mean only to expound upon this.

I'll go one step further and point out that the Jetfire mold was originally made by Takatoku (If you think the Jetfires with macross symbols are expensive, check out original Takatoku Valks) who also made the Dorvack series which included the molds for Roadbuster and Whirl. We're all a bunch of toy encyclopedias, aren't we? ![]() |

Two cases of Wave 1 Vehicles are on the shelf at the MJ Walmart in Wilmington.
They also had Animated Deluxe Wave 3, Universe Deluxes, new SW figs (headed back to the backroom), etc. Lots of new stuff the past two days. |

I found all the new vehicles except the Hiss at the Burlington WM this morning. No new figures.
They had about 3 pallets of toys out, but I didn't have time to go through all the pallets. Maybe I'll head back out at lunch. |

Nothing new at Wendover Wal-Mart, Target or K-Mart but Greensboro's TRU had 2 cases of vehicles! Now they have 1 case and an extra Armadillo set
![]() Also, isn't the Vamp and Hiss supposed to be $20 each or am I just crazy? Because they were all $15.99 at TRU |
