I've still got a straight-eyed Colton available along with another Jungle BAT. The Jungle BAT card is not in the best shape...more of an opener. If anyone is interested, PM me an offer. I'm not looking to trade...unless someone wanted to trade an extra Nano-BAT or Big Boa (MoC) for both.

Wait, ROC didn't define a generation of cinema like ANH? History could prove that statement wrong. The power of Tatum will live FOREVER!!!!!! I wasn't going to get on him because it's not his comparison, it's the media/bloggers. I get the comparison. Using ESB to describe any sequel that is darker than the first is commonplace for our attention deficit, one-word summation society. It has become the standard to which all sequels are compared. All of the Retaliation stuff I've read has been positive too. Still I'll hold on the Tuesday Warwick Mall 3D showing in favor or a cheaper 2D experience. I don't think waiting will ruin any spoilers since the ad campaign for this movie has shown us at least 50-75% of the story and 25% or more of the action scenes. Plus I hate wearing 3D glasses. It can get uncomfortable half way through the movie. And sometimes you don't get the clearest image quality on post conversion 3D movies (case in point: Wrath of the Titans). So I built all the Kreons and next week I only have the helicopter set to buy before all sets are complete. My fix is running out perhaps I'll buy the Korean sets and build those too.

Overall, I'm really happy with it. The quality is good. I think the only other set I want to get is this one: Amazon.com: IMEX Oxford Set #51271 Jeep, APC Missile Launcher: PTOMart 3 quality vehicles right there IMHO.

No free swag. However I can say this. If you are a die hard Joe fan who hates anything that is not comic/cartoon accurate you well likely feel this film is an 7/8. However that being said it is a GI Joe movie. Somehow Chu managed to salvage the sinking ship that was GI Joe and create something that was super entraining. Where as I couldn't and can't watch Rise of Cobra I want to go right back into the movies and watch this one again.
The action and pacing of the movie is wonderful and doesn't leave you bored with the film. If you plan on seeing it in 2d don't! I repeat do not see it in 2d. The 3d release of the film is not wraith of the Titans and the polish which have been put upon it was wonderful. There was no spots I found the 2d to be blurry unlike the Alice and Wonderland. Though if you have eye problems I suppose 2d would be better. 3d wasn't blurry to me. unlike Alice and wonderland. As for the score. I gave it a 9 small nit picks didn't make me not enjoy this movie. My mother gave it a 10 she absolutely loved it. She said it was action packed and the pacing was wonderful. My sister who never cared for GI Joe went as far as to give a 12 and wished me to state that there was one part which made her almost S$$t herself. Her words not mine. Chu got the enterprise back on track and I look forward to his next installment well having reservations which at this time I can't discuss. Last edited by atomsmasher; 03-26-2013 at 11:24 PM.. |

Any reviewer comparing Retaliation to Empire Strikes Back should have his/her credentials taken away. ESB is storytelling at it's most perfect. It built on the original and expanded it in ways no one expected. Retaliation did little to step out from the shadow of ROC, rather it was just wearing different clothes.
It's more like ROC is to Retaliation as Fast and the Furious is to Fast and the Furious 5. Both sequels added the power of the Rock, relied on tons of action, but in the end it's still just a big dumb action movie. I see Retaliation as a small step forward rather than the big leap I was expecting. |

Did you see it Beam?
I for one never would compare it to the Empire Strikes Back. What Chu did was manage to do away with some of the huge hurdles which ROC weighed down the GI Joe name. I am not going to name them here I don't wish to spoil anything until the movie is out of theaters in threads that don't need spoilers. Chu does go a good distance in fixing the franchise and creates a potential problem in some of his chooses but not really if you catch my hidden meaning. There are many openings for the third movie if this goes well. That being said it was indeed a GI Joe movie which felt like one of the cartoons but a little grown up yet was still handicapped by being connected to ROC. There is however a lot of room to expand and with a good director I believe 3 would be like ESB. |

I did see it last night and I'm not as enthused about it as you. There were parts I liked but overall it felt incomplete, and for that I blame the screen writiers. Scenes were missing that would have built up the characters and plot, particularly with the villians. When CC, Firefly and President Zartan were together, it was electric. Too bad those moments were few and far between. The costumes, actors, weaponry were all improvements. Jonathan Pryce is a scene stealer in this and possibly the surprise of the movie.
