Is it worth going to? How's the turnout? How are the dealer offerings? Anything good or just the same stuff you can find elsewhere? Are things outrageously overpriced?

That bad? What are the dealers selling? New stuff? Old Stuff? Would it be worth visiting if you were looking for Transformers or Japanese robot toys?
If you could compare it to any other local collectibles show from Mass or RI, what show would you compare it to? Attleboro, Fairhaven, Dedham, Boston?

Yeah...it was really bad, and $25 a piece to get in.
Nada worth buying...Fairhaven was actually better toy wise. |

Geeze. So was there a small amount of vendors? Was Toy Vault there? Was it more comic book than toy vendors?

Wow this all sounds bad. I already knew about the lame $25 to get in. Why so much? It better not cost anything for guest artist signatures. I would not expect the dealers to have low prices on anything except comics. They also have to pay to be there so prices are not going to be close to retail. I'm going tomorrow for artists ally and have Paul Ryan sign a Fantastic 4 page for me. If Walt Simonson is doing sketches I will get one. I could care less about actual comics and toys I can get at retail. As for waiting in line, any one who has been to a GI Joe Convention knows all about that. If you get there early to on time expect to wait in line with all kinds of freaks and geeks. No way am I driving down there to be turned off by a line.

I took the two kids this afternoon. It was fine, just a little annoying to get in. You have to buy tickets at the DD Center Box Office then step to the side, get a wristband, then walk back up the ramp into the con. But that was the biggest hassle, and it's not that big. It's a con, there are going to be lines.
As for the price, $25 is average. That's what Super Mega Fest is up to, Boston Comic Con was $20 IIRC, and back in the day I hit a couple Wizard Worlds for about that much. You should expect to pay that much when they're pulling in a large number of personalities. While it was weak on Comic guests, the celebrity list is fine. And I spoke to a couple of vendors who were happy with the turnout. Toy Vault was there and I grabbed an MU Iron Fist for $5 and a Toy Biz Human Torch for $10. Not much in the way of Joes so if that's what makes a good show, then your SOL. I saw plenty of toys at decent prices, and some inflated prices which I'm sure will go down by tomorrow (Sentinel for $75 for example). Plus posters, photos, comics, and other memorabilia. It has a similar vibe to Super Mega Fest. I don't know why there is hate for this show. It spans the spectrum of pop culture. I enjoyed the vibe, kids got some photos with Star Wars cosplayers, saw a kick ass working R2-D2, and bought some stuff. I'll be back there tomorrow to meet Logray aka Mike Edmunds. |
