What were the cons like before the modern era craziness? I bought a few ARAH sets in the early 2000s but I never made it to one. I went to the Providence con a couple of years ago, general admittance Saturday afternoon, it was pretty dead. Did I just hit it at a lull?

Beam, have you been to a joecon? It's so much more than just the exclusives. Yeah, they are part of the draw, but not the main reason I go. I've been to the last two nad had an awesome time, and made good friends at both. Providence is where I met Destro's Son and Gyre and bunch of other cool people and I got to meet Kushviper and Tucker in FL last year.

Also, I am not a huge supporter of the clubs pricing structures or the club folks. It's just a fun time.

Okay so I figured I would ask if anyone is interested in the Dollar General figures? I have a friend that lives in Fl. For her time and trouble you would be looking at $55-$60 for the set of 6. Here are the stipulations though...

1. I need the money up front no money no help...sorry she doesn't want to be put out.

2. First come first serve she has about 9 stores around her so when they are gone i will have to wait till they restock.

3. If I can't get them you get a refund.. I am not ripping people off..

4.. MOST IMPORTANT!!! The figures are being shipped all at once so It may be 2-4 weeks before I get them. I don't want to be harrassed "Where are my figures" First message like that I will refund the money to you and offer to someone else. I will let you know if I have your set though.

5. If anything else I will edit this post so stay tune... PM me if interested and you want to follow the guidelines..

I went to JoeCon in Providence. That was 09? A little disappointing. I'm a fan of cons and love getting autographs and meeting the creative people behind comics, film, TV etc. The guest list at the Prov Joe Con was all Hasbro toy guys - interesting to some but not to me. I wanted comic creators like Herb Trimpe, Ron Wagner from the Marvel series, voice actors from the Sunbow series, bit actors from the ROC movie that was premiering that same time. TO my surprise, Robert Atkins was there, unadvertised.

It just seemed that a con focused on GI Joe had such a narrow vision to only key in on the toy end of the property. I hear that friendships are made and that's cool. But I don't need to travel to meet people. The RI Tankers I've met are cool guys and I'm satisfied hanging with them.

I haven't been to any Cons. I believe RI was in 2010; the last o-ring set.

I have all the figures from the 2009 Con (first modern set) and all the Python/Brazil themed figures from last year's set. Nothing else about the Club interests me. I skim the magazine and never look at it again.

I'm not sure if I'll get a set for this year. I may just get the subscription...assuming that happens this year.

Oh wait, they're out for delivery. And I sold my extra Renegades/30th SS for $30 to offset the $75 for the set of 6 (received payment last night).

I really hope the variants of these figures show up at Family Dollar, but I'm not holding my breath.

That would be wonderful considering there are at least 15 in the Providence County area alone. Plus several more in Kent County.
