Des Moines South Side TRU had about six or eight Danger at the Docks sets, but absolutely nothing else.
I started becoming interested in the GI Joe KRE-O sets, and that same store had a bunch of Series 2 and 3 blind bags as well as a bunch of the playsets on clearance, but almost all of the blind bags were cut open on the back. Don't these guys know how to use the slick little "last two digits" trick to determine which figure is inside? So I had to pass for now. Thinking about ordering a bunch online at TRU.com and returning the duplicates. What does everybody else think about the KRE-O sets/figures? |

Yes, I'm beginning to become a fan. It looks like I can get my hands on just about everything that's been released either at Toys R Us (in store and online) or amazon.com. The exception? The Wave 1 blind bags. Those appear to be few and far between on eBay, and the sets of 12 I've seen have gone for over $125. That's a little too steep for my blood, even as much of a collectionist as I am!
I think I could probably live with the slashed open packages that I found at the south side TRU, assuming I'd be opening them anyway. But it still pisses me off. Somebody talk me off this KRE-O cliff! haha |

Since nobody talked me off the cliff, I picked up a set of Wave 2 and Wave 3 blind bags over the weekend. They're on clearance, so I figured I might as well pull the trigger.
The only one I could not find was the Series 3 Arctic Assault Eel (ID Code 03 on the back of the pack). I looked at every single blind bag at both Des Moines area Toys R Us stores and neither store had a single one. They had multiples of every other one, but no Acrtic Assault Eels. Does anybody have an extra they'd be willing to part with? Otherwise, the guy at the TRU store on the south side suggested I just order a bunch from TRU.com, find the one I want, and return the rest to the store. That seems like overkill to me. |

Lost an Iowa TRU in the loo. :( I live in CR and ours was renovated a few yrs ago and they added the Babies R Us, which I think is were they make their money. The one in Waterloo was smaller and dated. They also were 90% toys and unfortunately B&M stores (especially toy ones) are suffering. Hope I don't lose my CR TRU! I wouldn't make it.
