Making custom figures is not that hard, and it doesn't have to re-create some thing from the past, you can come up with your own characters, like this one I made not too long ago:
http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-jo...k-thumper.html Most important thing for me is that all the pieces fit together, and when the figure is painted and finished they look like it was something that looks out of the factory. There's also several places on the web to buy custom parts and heads, it's a bit expensive but most are well worth it. Painting is a trial and error thing, just make sure you buy good paints and brushes, personally I like Testors Acrylic paint, it goes on smooth and it's easy to clean up. Give it a try, you never know what you'll end up with. |

Anyone have ASSASSINS CREED 3 (Xbox) they'd want to sell or trade for GI JOE stuff (or other toys?)

Broken arrow does have some awesom stuff, downside to it is that he gets so many orders it takes a while to get your stuff. Some of the heads you do need to drill holes on but most of the stuff he sells is ready for paint. If you don't have a dremel tool you can pick one up at Walmart cheap, for making the holes on the heads I use this:

I see alot of custom figs out there, and It makes me want to get on it, but I don't have much talent other than taking them apart, I'm very artistic, but I never know were to start. to make a joe that's never been made 25th up. I look at some of the 80s figs to compare parts, but always seem to have head problems in basic terms. Also you never know if or when they will ever make that figure in an update. I also never owned the cobra island sets, and know that I need some of the figs like mindbender, but I did see that they were making a new hit n run figure. I'd hate to waste my money on something so expensive, then they remake the figures, and sell them single carded. As a rather new joe fan, It's unknown to me on who they haven't made and who they have made, but I do know that they made alot of figures in the 80s line. Do you think they will ever remake all the 80s figures?
And if they do come out, oh well, just replace them. How many times have we not replaced 25th Duke? When Lifeline, Airtight and Law where released I gave my customs a dicomissioning post here: http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-jo...farewells.html Another thing Galactron said is very true. They dont have to look exactly like the originals. I think some of the best work Ive seen comes from customizers taking creative liberties on thier work. A simple thing like changing the color of a vest or cammo patern makes a world of difference. I remember someone did a custom of Footloose but changed the cammo paten to desert khaki and it blew my mind how good it looked. Another guy changed Skidmark's orange vest for a black one and he looked like a badass. look at how badass Kingbiohazerd's scoop looks without the school bus yellow: http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-jo...biohazerd.html

Dude Just customize away! Hasbro is never gonna release all the Joes of yester-year. I've built an entire army of custom Joes to fill the gap. I rarely post shit cause my work is pale at best and straight up "who the hell is that supposed to be" at worst but thats how I fill the void. Yeah once in a while Hasbro will actually make a figure that isnt Snake Eyes, Storm Shadow or Duke but that dont happen often. I seriously doubt guys like Salvo, Fast Draw, Countdown or Bulletproof will ever get the 25th style treatment. And some of my favorite joes as a kid where vehicle drivers like Hotseat, Payload and Windchill. I'll never see them again unless I make customs of them.

wlep the Joe drought should be just about over. I see alot of new Hasbro product hitting the shelves. MY Little Pony, BeyBlade and Transformers all starting to recieve new shipments of previously un-released product. Joes should not be far behind.
Its gotten so bad I actually started buying Transformers again. I havent bought that shit since 2003!

Wave 1 is out now, in tampa, for me, I think I'll just get them from my dealer, getting burnt out on runs. Besides we will see this wave soon enought at Walgreens and CVS most likely.
http://zodaksjoecollection.webs.com/ I now have my Shock Trooper army complete, will be getting new pics up as soon as I can get time, also my Alley Viper collection is complete, and will be upgrading that one as well. Then I hope to get down to my complete Steel Brigade collection and Jungle B.A.T.s. I'm still looking for something good to go along with the B.A.T.s and really haven't thought to much on it yet. If anyone has any suggestions, please feel free to fill me in on you opinions. I'd be glad to hear even if my opinion is different. A link to my collection, I don't have a package, this one is free, and only holds so much storage, since my pics are so large my space is closing out. I'm not sure if I'm gonna go with unlimited space or what, but I thought It would be cool to try it out. I'm gunna go ahead, and put up my latest joes for sale. Shipping is free. Meet-ups in brandon area will sell at retail.. Set of 6 DG Dollar General Joes. $65.00 POC Cobra Trooper X3 18.00 POC Steel Brigade X1 16.00 Loose ROC DRAGONHAWK XH1 W/ WILD BILL (stickers already applied) X1 $30.00 My B/S/T List http://www.hisstank.com/forum/3749684-post13063.html http://www.hisstank.com/forum/buy-se...ml#post3892446 Last edited by Lab Rat; 12-28-2012 at 11:15 PM.. |
