[Cobra Agent 66]

I didn't like it. For me, Revenge is top tier, with MASS and Serpentor beneath it, with Pyramid down bottom.

I just got done watching this the other night. Apline, Bazooka, and Quick Kick were the highlight of it for me. Mad yodeling skills bro! Ha ha ha! Also it was funny to see Snake Eyes break dancing. Not my favorite mini series that would be "Revenge of Cobra" but this is my second favorite for the time being as I'm going through every Sunbow episode on DVD. So that could change.

Anyone else every find themselves singing, or at least humming, "The Cobra That Got Away"? I think might call my local jazz radio station and request it, just to see what they say. Is that even a thing any more? Do people still call radio stations and request songs?

It's actually a very overrated 5-parter. People remember it more fondly than it deserves because it introduces so many new characters that are a big part of the lore. But the plot is ridiculous and the last episode is the worst conclusion (they win by yodeling!?) of any of the mini-movies. The Fatal Fluffies are almost as bad as Ewoks and it's not really clear to me what Cobra Commander's scheme actually is (how can he rule the parts of the world that don't have electricity and once he turns off the Pyramid, why wouldn't everyone just revolt?).

During my 2018 rewatch (the first time I had watched the show again since I was a kid), I was shocked how bad this miniseries was, particularly since I love Revenge of Cobra and the Mass Effect episodes.

Honestly I feel the best of Sunbow are the 2-parters, like Springfield, Worlds Without End, Captives of Cobra, Traitor, Synthoids, etc.

Just long enough, not too drawn out.

To be fair, it has all the trappings of a device designed completely around introducing as many new characters as possible without confusing a young audience. By globetrotting they were able to separate groups of characters by scenes.

I think the reasons you think it's overrated are exactly the reasons Hasbor rightly saw it as a terrific marketing tool. New characters, but no new tricks.

Mass Device and Revenge of Cobra are organized in exactly the same way, but they aren't nearly as silly. If Pyramid didn't introduce characters like the Twins, Alpine, Quick Kick, Snow Serpents, and Bazooka, it would be viewed as some of the worst episodes of the pre-Serpentor series.

Well the POD mini series isn't really when a lot of those characters were introduced. Those were were just the episodes that aired next after the Revenge of Cobra. Countdown for Zartan is really the episode that follows Revenge.

I got thrown off by how large the interior of the Rattler was in the last episode. Cobra Commander was STANDING while the Twins were piloting.

Yeah that was a bit odd now that I think about it.
