I used to love Chuck Dixon's work when I was a younger man, his run on the Tim Drake Robin series, Nightwing and some of his Punisher stuff was great. Kinda of bored with him now though. Last issue I read of his was Gijoe #25 and it seemed dreadfully boring.

I'm torn on this. First, the ending of Cobra as we know it, and bringing it more into the mainstream of the IDW universe is a HORRIBLE idea. That book was, imo, the best Joe in any media we have ever gotten.
That being said. I LOVE the idea of all the candidates for CC, and getting to see how this all plays out. How the real innerworkings of Cobra click, and the ramifications it will have through out the universe. That being said. I think it could all have been handled by the Cobra team, with a slight bleed over into the SE book. Leave the corebook in the "blind", and see how the events of one, play out in the other, without the Joes in the know. SE would be the one to piece the clues together. As far as predictions? I think the SS cover gives it away. SS's original role was as CC's bodyguard. If his handler, I forget his name now, takes over. It would make perfect sense to have SS step right into his old role. JMO, of course.

Huh? He's featured on a cover. His handler is apparently one of the nine people in the running for the position of CC. I think we'll be seeing a whole lot more of SS in the upcoming months.
Fwiw, I know you're a huge SS fan, but one of the biggest problems SE and SS faced was over exposure. Especially SE. While it might suck to not get to see your favorite character every month. Atleast in the little bit we have seen of him, he's been completely badass. Better then an overused plot device who becomes a caricature of the great character he started out being. Have faith, I think SS is one of the best handled characters in this series. I bet they have something special planned for him.

Trooper you are correct; he is on a cover and his handler is a candidate. The handler (forgot his name) was in an issue of GI Joe main series a few issues ago.

I like this take on him. A true professional, the epitome of the ultimate assassin. I love the handler aspect. Very cool, imo.

It was awful. The entire series is kind of dreadful and that issue was one of the worst. Chuck Dixon is a very good writer but he admittedly doesn't really know G.I. Joe. He is trying hard to put as many characters as possible in the stories as possible though.
