That makes no sense. They don't have people in their distribution centers saying ok -store 24 and store 18 need some so break that case up and give them half and half. Retail doesn't work that way-if they did that-costs would go up as efficiency would go down.

I got two Cobra Flight Pods (Trouble Bubbles) at Ross for $5.99 each.
They were the only ones on the shelf. None of the other sets were there. Either someone was there before me and cleared out the other sets or not every Ross gets all the same. The Trouble Bubbles were the one I was most interested in anyway; although, the range Viper looks swell too. |

So I spent the last 4 days in Pittsburgh, and hit all the Ross stores in the area. Not a thing to be found. Last night I drove the two hours home and thought about hitting my local store but I was just too tired. This morning I went out to run some errands and decided to stop in. There sitting lone on the shelf was a flight pod. I turned around and sitting in a bin of shoes was the Whirlwind. I Started to walk over to the next toy shelf an spotted another Flight pod sitting on the shelf. Then I headed back to the toy area and found the glider and another whirlwind on a table full of various items. Strangely, no Ram cycle though. Still it was a nice little trip and made for a nice last minute xmas gift for myself. Funny thing is I was about to come home and give in and just buy a set for $100 on ebay. So glad I didn't. The one lady who worked there started talkin to meafter I asked if they had any more and she offered to take my name and number in case they get in more or even some Hiss tanks. She said she would hold them for me if they come in. How AWesome is that?? I think this was my recently departed Mom's was of giving me something for the holidays.

No, but they do have people in their distribution centers (or further back in the chain?) cracking open cases and putting price tags on everything before shipping them out. It seems pretty reasonable that some "cases" got re-packed differently, shoved into boxes other than the Hasbro ones, or something similar. Or it could just be folks in the back snagging their own.

At Ross, I saw them wheel out a cart with alll sorts of different open cases with hodge-podge of different stuff. That's probably how they do business. Good point about how they individually price each item which could be done at the distribution center. |

I don't know about Ross, but I'm pretty sure this is how Walgreens is run. Either that or they get a case and only put 2-3 figures on the shelves at a time. But I'm fairly certain that when I was hunting the Heroes of Cybertron figures back in 2001-2002 a Walgreens manager told me they only get partial cases from teh distribution centers

I remember trying to get those HoC figures too and I'm just glad the chases weren't too hard to track down since even though they got split cases, there were 25 Walgreens in a 25 mile radius of me. |

Places like Walgreens and CVS will put overstock into these blue bins as they have a limited amount of space in the store. They may not sell them and will send them off to other stores that either don't have them or have the room.
