Since a lot of you have been inquiring about the status of the line... and pleading for news (and images) regarding prototypes etc... I've been asked by the SK Omega guys to fill you in on a couple things (not much; be patient) that should at least answer some questions (concerns?).
First of all, ... the line is moving forward, and quite wonderfully. Control art is complete for most of the vehicles (i.e. the helicopter) and the HIVE play set is actually pretty much done. They're keeping a lid on a lot of what's going on for obvious reasons but you can expect to see some 3D reveals in the near future (although for some of you that's not soon enough heheheh). Basically, this line is going to happen. On a personal note: I know it's hard to reserve judgment on a product 'skeletoned' on a decades-old, basically extinct format.. but these guys grew up with GI JOE the same way you did. They've got Ron Rudat and Guy Cassaday and a chunk of other super talented artists in their arsenal... and they're living the ultimate fan/collector dream. They're just doing what they love and they hope others will enjoy the results. Anyways... I'll fill you in on more, whence permitted.

Gyre, did they give you a sense of the timeline? What is their goal for putting this out on the shelves? (I mean, like next year or the year after that, not the actual date). Thanks for the update - you always seem to have inside scoop!

While I've no interest in O-ring figures I'm really excited for the guys who are. Some of these designs look pretty cool, and that Chopper looks AWESOME! I wish these guys all the success in the world.

no news regarding official release. they're not slacking though. so I don't foresee it taking any longer than it needs to (by their standards of course) as they really want to put out the best product they can, but also in a timely matter. no one wants this line released as much as they do, trust me. but they also wanna do it right. they're taking every aspect of it very seriously, from preproduction to finished bits.

As long as the O-rings are equal in height to ME Joes and have some good articulation/sculpting, it has a good chance of ending up in my collection.

Cool, sounds like things are chugging right along.
Honestly, I liked the vehicles, but what won me over for the figures was the guy (I forget his name right now) that has the snap on exo skeleton. I just thought that was an awesome concept that I wish had been made earlier. |

dang, gyre...
you've moved from prototypes to getting in on prototypes before they are prototypes. stepping up in the world. you've become the guy that the guys behind the guy goes to, in order to make sure the guy they want to buy their toy guys are the right guys. you're like a proto-prototype tester, man. you go where no toy collector has gone before.. gyre drops off the grid for a bit, comes back as the inside source on only the most interesting new line. I drop off the grid, it's likely rabbies or blackouts.. Reading gyre's threads makes me want to re-evaluate my toy collecting. I'm just not taking this seriously enough. sigh.
