As many of you know I have a G.I.JOE dedicated Myspace page, and I have some wonderful friends on the page, well a few months ago I had heard rumors of a new G.I.Joe animated series in the works, nothing solid, but there was talk, well yesterday the mother of news hits my Myspace page, Neil Kaplan (voice to RID Optimus Prime) is one of my good friends and he's been approached to be the voice of Cobra Commander and or Destro!!( he wrote me and told me that the details were sketchy), but they wanted the voices as close to the original as possible. Now if this isn't front page worty, I don't know what is.

I'm very happy to hear this. I hope to see the series come out BEFORE the movie as a motivator for the new generation of Joe fans. I think Tom Kenny, who plays Starscream in the new Transformers series (as well as Spongebob Squarepants) would also make an excellent Cobra Commander.

Not surprised, just hope they keep it solid (unlike the new transformers cartoon).

I know I'm a skeptical, cynical A-hole when it comes to this stuff... but I have a really bad feeling it's going to be a naruto-ized, "G.I. Pokeman", huge-eyed, anime nightmare that'll make Sigma6 look like friggin' shakespear.
As usual, I hope I'm wrong. I wasn't wrong when I said this about that new TF cartoon, which is literally vomit-inducing if you're older than 5. My eight year old cousin thinks it's laughable and for "1st graders", and in our day transformers was targeted to 8 to 12 year old boys like a scud missile. For example: If they put pigtails on scarlett or give ANYONE a sword that defies the laws of physics with its sheer size, I'm runnin' for the hills with my dvd's of the original series and you can all just call me when it's over and safe to come back down. yep, i'm sure it will end up another teen titanized version like the tf animated series in which case i'll not care to watch it. my 4yr old might like it but that style doesn't appeal to me and i watch lots of cartoons with 2 kids.

That is freakin' hilarious! And blaze a good trail, 'cause I'm right behind you if it ends up that way.

Happy dance. (As long as it's reasonably good.)
Someone joebattlelines.com was reporting similar news. Was that you, tk? He also did the Penguin on The Batman cartoon.
