It it's not at all difficult to distinguish Genndy Tartakovsky's style from the typical anime offering (he cut his teeth with Warner Bros. Animation and Hanna-Barbera, after all), and both series showcased fantastic writing. Hardly comparable to Teen Titans. |

I hope they make a new cartoon, I miss sigma 6.
I just hope it's not done in the style of TF Animated.

here is my unique situation, i actually like teen titans. my kids love it. good stories make a big differnece in any series.
i do not like the animation style as it applies to transformers animated at all. ofcourse i've only managed to sit thru a couple episodes due to the story telling, but it's a series both myself and my kids have not followed. frankly, i'd rather watch jimmy nuetron, ben 10, etc. than tf animated any day of the week.

The update is a CGI animated series, not puppets. Some (typical) screens caps:
And that's the first episode I randomly grabbed from my DVD set. No puppets in sight. But, if you are gong to dismiss an entire generation of British children's television, including THUNDERBIRDS, STINGRAY, CAPTAIN SCARLET and such based on your own preconceptions of "puppets" then that's your business. Just remember what you said if anyone ever dismisses your love of "toys". Even if it was just the technical aspects that make a series "sophiticated" then I'd still argue that modern production line cartoon series can't hold a candle to the pioneering miniature work used on programmes such as Gerry Anderson's productions in the 1960's, but I happen to think it's the tone & writing that contribute to that "sophistication". As such, I'd still take classic THUNDERBIRDS over a modern cartoon any day... Is that show out on DVD? I may have to pick it up.

Uh, dude, my comments were clearly in jest. As if cartoons can be objectively "cooler" than puppets. Also, I was a big fan of the Anderson productions. I gave up on marionettes after they butchered a Chinese show on Cartoon Network about a year ago. I forgot the name but they made the dialog urban and hip, instead it became campy and forgettable. It lasted one episode.
Is that show out on DVD? I may have to pick it up. NEW CAPTAIN SCARLET is only on Region 2 DVD (two sets of 13 episodes each), but is a perfect example of how an animated show can appeal to all ages if done right. My Dad (63 years old) loved the series too. I really recomend anyone interested in animation of any kind to try and track it down and see it somehow (preferably in high quality to fully appreciate it's beauty). I dream of a GI JOE show produced to the same standard, but I know it'll remain that: A dream. If cartoon makers can get the same air time & sponsorship deals with cheap crap, then that's the route they'll always pick over expensive quality.

looks good, what show is that?
i would like to see it, if it were done cgi, something like Roughnecks: Starship Troopers Chronicles. while the cgi is very rough, the stories were very good. it may have not been a very popular series but it had a devote fan base. i still watch the series over from time to time on dvd. macross plus, from the tid bits i've seen also is some amazing work. i could go on with lists of other anime which is spectacular like cowboy bebop, last exile... not all anime is done in the football sized eyes and green hair style.

I'm hoping it's not CG, just plain old school animation. No offense, but I never got into CG.
