Just as a general FYI: TRU seems to have dropped its prices for the SW and GI Joe figures by a $1.00 so as to retail at $6.99 each.
Perhaps, this is in light of the statement by Hasbro that the figures were overpriced, or, perhaps, it is merely a decision on the part of TRU to lower prices to incentivize the public to clear out the left over holiday stock, since stores won’t be getting any new figures until later in the fall. However, TRU had maintained its price point of $7.99 for single carded GI Joe and SW figures even during the holiday rush, excepting the occasional 2 for $9.99 or $10.99 sale. Interestingly, the TRU price drop comes just as Target is raising its prices back to $7.89 pre-holiday price point, although Walmart prices are holding at $5.00 per figure, despite anticipation that Walmart would raise the prices on the figures after the 1st of February. Hopefully, the TRU price drop not just on GI Joe toys, but SW as well, and the fact that Walmart did not raise its prices as forecasted, are reflective of a general trend to lower prices as a means of generating sales during a depressed economy that is yet to show signs of recovery. I noticed this yesterday even the Marvel Universe figures are $6.99. Unfortunately, I have all the figures I want and nothing new 'til Fall 2010 so it doesn't matter. My question is:
"When are they lowering the prices on the ALPHA vehicles?" |

pure in simple, lower prices = better sales! Hasbro knows this and they sell more if they drop the figure prices closer to $5.99 for all 3.75" figures and $9.99 for all 6.5" figures like Marvel Legends. Prices have to reflect what people are willing to pay for and right now is the right time to adjust them...
