Look, I know that everybody bitches when something changes. It's a part of life and it's understandable. What bothers me is when people use that fact to dismiss any dissension or disagreement with what's being changed. I don't think that it's fair to just disregard feedback and chalk it up to the fact that nobody likes change. It's ignorant to do so. That being said, I hope that they don't screw with this franchise the way that they did with the Transformers.
The GI Joe movie changes , much like the Transformers movies changes are inevitable. While I may not like them, I get them. You can't turn a cartoon into a live action movie without some differences, especially over twenty some odd years and extra-especially when you involve Hollywood. Artists do this in order to make their mark on something. Selfish, but, reality nonetheless. What I don't get and hope that they don't do is change the franchise so much that it's not familiar. They did this with the animation on Transformers. It looks.. cartoonish. Part of what made me love these franchises as a kid was they were more real than other cartoons. The animation was more representative of real life vehicles and people. We dug that as kids and I don't think that kids today are any different. Plus, if they want to sell this to our kids, on some level they have to sell it to us. I think to disregard this type of stuff ruins a franchise, or better put, it compromises it and it ultimately loses it's fan base. Look what they did back in the 80's. For me, they screwed up both Transformers and GI Joe when they started changing things up and the changes weren't good. The ended up losing their fan base then because of it. I just hope they do a good job and don't go and F it up. |

i' looked at the picture of Tunnel rat and wish they'd stayed closer to the resolute look as opposed to the Tranformeres animated/sigma six look.
its not terrible, but it just doesn't fit as well with me. but gotta wait and actually see. |

Yeah I will be ok with it if it holds the anime look of like Metalocolypse, Ghost in the shell and Resolute styles...I can stomach that fine, but reatrdedly out of proprtioned bukakigen things like Ben 10 and stuff with the tricked out spiked hair and elongated legs and necks and thier big bulbous looking boots and shit I just can't stand that. Especially like they did Dooku in toy and cartoon in Clone Wars and Anakin's nose wtf is up with that crap...

As long as they don't start making the figures look like the animation, I don't really care.

so everyone is freaking out this new animation designs, WHICH THEY HAVEN'T SEEN ANYTHING OF, is going to go the same route when people first heard about Resolute, getting all fanboy butthurt before anything has been finalized, animated, or completed. Sometimes I really hate the fandom of these cartoons and toylines, BE THANKFUL YOU'RE GETTING A NEW ANIMATED SERIES!
i've been eagerly awaiting what the animation style of this new series would be, since resolute proved it can do a japanese/american style fusion for TOTAL win! but to hear it's a cross between resolute and transformers animated......that is really scary! and i can see how a lot of people here can get up in arms about that. has anyone here tried to watch an episode of TF animated? the character designs are BEYOND "cartoony" or "manga" or "anime" or whatever catchphrase the media is using these days, to me, they are just absurd and overly exaggerated and deformed. for me, i would hate for Joe to become a "super deformed" version of its former glory. from the fear of the mention of "TF: animated" to think that a super deformed version of Joe could come to be....i'd rather have no new series at all than a silly looking series like TF: animated.

i'm not specifically calling you out on this.......so i hope it isn't taken that way.

With Clone Wars and Transformers Animated, you have highly styalized designs yet a great story at the core, with great character development. The only Hasbro cartoons to feature great stories have been Beast Wars, TF Animated and Clone Wars. Sigma 6 had an anime look but a very lackluster story. In fact, the G.I. Joe Sigma 6 cartoon and CGI movies of 2003-05 were lackluster, with the latter being terrible. Great stories lead to longevity. Even now, Beast Wars is praised. Part of the reason fans were so critical with Beast Machines, is because it did not live up to it's predecessor. Sure not everyone was onboard for Transformers who were CG and turned into animals, but no one can deny that Beast Wars had the best storyline of ANY Transformers cartoon. So will G.I. Joe have an emphasis on story and characters? Possibly. Right now it is wishful thinking on my part, but Hasbro's cartoons in recent years have been more of substance over style. |

So the AWESOMENESS of Resolute and the crappiness of Animated combined?
Hopefully it's like the Wolverine and the X-men series at least. |
