This month's Toyfare dropped today and GI Joe got some love. They previewed the City Strike wave with our fave Snake eyes in there.
Then the Top Ten had a huge surprise. #1 the 5 pack Desert troop builder with Dial tone, Law and order, repeater, footloose and Zartan. #2 The 5 pack Cobra builder with the neo viper, mars troopers, and duke in disguise. Not bad and defiantly getting some 'face' time out there for other collectors.

Sometimes it's inclusions like that which reveal how silly their top 10 list is.
It's good advertisement for the Joe brand, but I haven't even seen reports that those packs have been released yet. |

Or maybe they're looking at the toys objectively and not through the nostalgia tainted eyes of interwebz fanboys? Who the hell would even know Repeater wasn't originally black except for people here and the other one or two fans he had in the 80s?

I got this issue on Monday. I've been a subscriber for over a decade and I know the economy sucks but this magazine has really gone down hill. While I've always read it in under a day at least it was 80-90 pages. This issue 64 pages WTF. Plus they use to show me upcoming toys before anyone else. Now everything in the magazine I've seen or worse is already on shelves. I don't believe I will re-subscribe.
Print media is almost dead.............

You know when I got mine today in the mail. The first thing I said to the wife was "Wow. Toyfare is really hit or miss. It's so thin. I don't think they have a set page count. It's just how ever many pages worth of pics they find when press time comes around.
It was REALLY thin this month. *nods* And the thing is, it costs 2 or 3 TIMES as much as any of my other magazines. Hell it's 4 times the cost of Playboy, and Maxim and they're very pic heavy and of.... you know. Grown up boys toys.

They've had clear Wraith on that list before, and that I could understand. |

That mag top 10 is as reliable as the weatherman! Most of the stuff they claim is hot is really not.

They have those 5-packs listed as go for like $70. WTF? The Cobra 5-pack is really lame, too.

I'm not commenting on the quality of the sets at all. I'm commenting on the magazine's guess that these were going to be hot toys by the time the latest issue hit the stands.

I know this thread is old, but I had to rant about Toyfare. I have been a subscriber for 10 years, and it really has gone downhill. The jokes are all rehashed, the grammar and spelling errors are atrocious for a professional publication, and the hot list is never current and full of price errors.
Of course, I'm the idiot who bought 3 Dark Knight Movie Masters Jokers thinking they'd be hot items. |
