Wizards of the Coast had a good Q1, beat expectations. Consumer goods still unprofitable. Sounds like they're going to accelerate cost cutting measures and supplier country diversification to offset tariff cost impact where they can and try to preserve friendly price points on lower-priced, faster-selling items. Most of the WotC product isn't coming from China, and that's their big money maker. I'm thinking Classified is more price-flexible and we might see some price-increases or more cheaply made product but everything is still really fluid right now.
For people who collect multiple brands is this everything Hasbro or just the non-Disney stuff? Curious if SW/Marvel have tighter release windows and everything else gets lower priority. Last edited by DFender; 04-26-2025 at 09:00 PM.. Reason: Removed nexus for political discussion |

Meh..whatever. this will all even put soon enough. Politics aside, we could use less of Chinese "stuff", and if it forces manufacturing to come back, and or better trade deals so be it.

So I finally opened up my Zandar and Roadpig. Zandar looks great, some awesome paint apps but man you guys weren't lying about the shoulder pauldrons. They make shoulder articulation absolutely awful.
Roadpig is awesome though, the shoulder guard has a little bit of the same issue on one side but overall he's such a good figure that it doesn't bother me that much. |

I'm to the point where if these figures are barely going to have a B&M retail presence, they could start skimping on the packaging and just sell me a loose figure with accessories. I can't stand dealing with all the packaging anyway and I need to start recycling a lot of it because it takes up too much space in my house. I am fully aware that I will get tomatoes and shoes thrown at me by in-box/carded collectors but I wouldn't mind a loose option (not loose and used) from Hasbro. Kind of like old school mail-aways. It's just a thought I had recently.

The question is which contingent is larger - those who will reduce purchases if quality decreases or those who will cut spending if the cost increases. They are in a bit of a lose lose situation there no matter whether they raise price or cut corners, but IMO you can not attract new fans by cutting quality you just end up taking advantage of the locked in fan who won't drop the line regardless. I AM price conscious and we're at the point I only get my favorites instead of one of everything - but I think there are more people who will settle for "good enough" as long as the price remains consistent rather than absorb an increase to maintain quality. That's why you end up with enshitification over time for many things.
