I received a notice from Pulse on Monday that Leatherneck and Dial Tone would be shipping soon. Nothing yet on the SAW Viper or Zandar.

I did pick up Leatherneck and one SAW Viper from Robot Kingdom right before Christmas. Other than the lack of ankle/calf swivel on the SAW Viper, it really is a fantastic figure. I can’t wait to get my SAW squad up. Leatherneck is cool too, although firmly in the generic soldier category. The more standard military figures are good because they really help balance out the crazier elements, so Leatherneck is a valued addition even though he was admittedly never one of my favorites. His loadout is solid and he does show as larger/bulkier than some of the other JOEs (for those of you worried about his size). Also, he has a really quality face sculpt and his hat and glasses fit on his head securely. Sometimes the removable hat molds are too thick-walled and look a little off/odd, but this one is damn near perfect.

Last note: I think I bought basically at least one of everything from 2024 and my usual multiples on troop builders. I did a rough count and it was over 60 figures. The total number is higher but it’s not a competition lol. Seriously, the 2024 offerings put my collection into the stratosphere. So much representation in so many facets of JOE lore and my display is now pushing 250 figures.

Happy New Year, everyone! Utterly surreal that we are onto Year 6. There are still many, many characters I?d love to see made but I feel comfortable saying everything to come hereafter is absolute gravy. This has been such a wonderful ride with all of you, the Hasbro team and Joe fans the world over. To an amazing 2025!

The 2024 thread was chatting about volume of figures in 2024 versus previous years. It made me go and look back and I found it interesting because I could see where a lot of that variability might come from. For me personally I bought 26 in 2024, four of which were vehicles, including two larger than any in 2023. But in 2023 I ordered 42, only two of which were vehicles.

It might come down to the law of diminishing returns, or diminishing funds and shelf space. It made me more discerning with my purchases because 2023 was a huge bounty after many slow periods. An example for me is I probably don?t buy blue ninjas or Arctic BAT if they came out in 2024. On the other hand, I probably would?ve bought Trench Viper or Nemesis in 2023.

Way more retro figures (I only bought a few), repaints, figures resembling previous releases, themes or segments that don?t interest people (e.g Cobra La or Marauders) can all have an impact. But I imagine there is a specific variety of releases for each of us that would get us to increase our totals, but it?s different for everybody.
