The amount of movie tie-in toys is going to be insane. Whatever the popular TF line is right now and Classified are going to either be invaded with movie items or they will be put on hold for them.

Under normal circumstances, not for the film companies. Assuming they own the IP or worked out some type of deal, it's usually just a small (by comparison) licensing fee. Lucas was a genius, well ahead of his time and created a property that wound up being a merchandising monster of it's own - which, sadly, Disney's managed to fuck up.

I thought Honor Among Thieves was a lot better than I had read or heard upon its release. My expectations were definitely low, but it was actually a pretty fun movie and I didn't think it was bad at all.

A movie's bottom line does not factor into my assessment of success at all. My assessment is 100% around the film's artistic merits.
I get this is not how studios and toy companies measure things though. Also, Dungeons & Dragons and Bumblebee are not very good at all IMO. They're predictable toy commercials for children, but compared to the other Transformers, GI Joe, Battleship and Jem they actually seem like real movies. Neither of them would be anywhere near my top 30 for their years of release. Last edited by TheRealDubya; Yesterday at 09:47 PM.. |

That's what worries me the most (after the quality of the film) is that Hasbro is going to be all hands on deck with merchandising of a film that features two of its brands.

Frankly, that any studio is willing to take GI Joe on again in a titular role after Snake Eyes is shocking to me, but what do I know?
