As someone who never read the comics, I'm very excited for this. How long before the whole set is released?

Cool, thanks. I missed that. My son is huge into Transformers right now, and I don't have any of the old Marvel comics. I've been wanting to re-read those with him.

(Technically, you might say there were 156 issues. At the very end of the run, Marvel put out a special reprint of issue 61 with different art.) Then there are also the spinoffs: Special Missions (28 issues), G.I. Joe Yearbooks (4 issues), Order of Battle (4 issues), G.I. Joe and the Transformers (4 issues), and European Missions (15 issues). If Skybound really wants to go all-in on this, those could fit nicely into an extra volume. |

I have the entire Marvel run on my computer, but never read them (I think I started years ago and never got past issue 2 or 3). I will definitely be buying these new reprints though! I would love if for them to include that other stuff (Special Missions, the Yearbooks, etc.) in a bonus 4th volume. I had the 1st Yearbook and loved that issue. I only had a handful of the Marvel comic issues as a kid, but the '84 Yearbook was one of them!.

Didn't the IDW Collections splice-in Special Missions and the Yearbooks in chronological order? That's what I'm hoping will be the case with these.

Thank the gods!!! The TPBs went from being hyper-expensive on amazon for years to being sold out when the new comics came out and now we get an awesome series of compendiums.

Yes, they did, and I agree with you -- gotta have Special Missions and the Yearbooks included. The main series had crossovers with those two subseries on a couple occasions, so they have to be included to get the full story.

I hope they include all the newer .5 issues in their spots, too. Plus the Hijacked! Hama comic from GI Joe Magazine #1, and all 4 of the mini-comics included with the toys, and maybe even the 3 from Starduster! https://www.3djoes.com/hasbro-1985-1994.html Last edited by Bryon; 02-28-2024 at 05:40 PM.. |
