I'm on the other side of this. The lack of tangible conflict is why kids are moving away from toys, I think.
Once you're older than 5, Paw Patrol and all this other crap that's "adventure" based loses its luster. There's a reason we still love Joe as old ass men and kids of today move on to video games |

I don't think the concept in necessarily pre-school but it can work at that level. Just because you pivot to adventure and remove the "terrorism" angle from the brand doesn't mean that it's necessarily a pre-school concept. Adventure can work at all levels.

I wouldn't mind if they had done a cartoon in the manner of Resolute or Renegades, but don't dumb it down or make it gritty. Tell intelligent stories with great artists and talented voice actors. Let kids who may never get the opportunity to travel see how amazing the world really is through exceptional animation.

I will say that I don't think the lack of tangible conflict is why kids are moving away from toys and opting for video games instead. It's not like that's been a trend for a decades at this point.....

It would mostly be about adventures that just happen to run into a villain doing something like cutting down the rainforest that the Adventure Team then has to find a way to stop. Heck Renegades had a lot of episodes like that. |

The way I understand it, it would have been more like Captain Planet or the 90s Johnny Quest.
It would mostly be about adventures that just happen to run into a villain doing something like cutting down the rainforest that the Adventure Team then has to find a way to stop. Heck Renegades had a lot of episodes like that. You end the first season with introduction of Military Joe team using the Falcon Joe logo. AT and Falcon both under Joe. Second season is the more military and the introduction of Cobra. Bring in the Duke and Snake Eyes, etc. This way you walk into the military and terrorist aspects slowly and later. Similar to some of the Renegades stuff. Like any project it just had to be done with care and respect for the original source material. Even Sigma Six was doing the adventure team like figure sets. It?s in the Joe dna. |

It's weird that the Sea Adventurer has the Cobra Data Viper's gear.

That was intentional. They were trying to use mostly existing tooling to make the line cheaper for hasbro.

So I pitched this here before?do a slick cartoon (streaming, like 8-10 episodes a season) for 7-12 years old that skews older (not younger). Call it GI Joe Adventure team and use the AT logo under the GI Joe logo. Take a small group of adventure related Joes and go on adventure related missions. Put Scarlet in charge and use the Recondo, Stalkers, Outback, Snow Job, etc. Each episode a new adventure. Slowly tease that they are part of a bigger organization (GI Joe). Tease in Cobra characters? first as a nemesis on Adventure missions then slowly reveal part of a bigger group with more nefarious intent.
You end the first season with introduction of Military Joe team using the Falcon Joe logo. AT and Falcon both under Joe. Second season is the more military and the introduction of Cobra. To me Netflix had the right length of episodes with Daredevil, but the Short Attention Span crowed got their panties in a twist because of "filler" episodes, or the plot moved along too slow. Now we get 6 episode series on D+ because of it, and you blink and the show is over. I agree it needs to be geared more towards older kids/preteen but dont dumb it down either. My biggest gripe with Sigma 6, TF Animated, 2015 RiD, Rescue Bots, Cyberverse and the new Earthspark and any cartoons (TMNT) Nickleodeon has their mits on. |
