I think you may have answered your own question. Maybe they knew they'd be fragile and problematic to develop so went they went the other route because the licensor wanted them up for sale sooner than later. Never forget about the licensor's hand in these things.

Then when the uproar started post-reveal they saw a way to kill two birds with one stone if they could dial it in: appease the demand for chrome while also selling more overall.

The ultimates look really good. I also like that they are only releasing 8-12 per year. Can you imagine having 200 of these on a shelf

Agree. I would have been fine with metallic paint. Some of the more contemporary metallics are dang near as good as vac-metal. Especially with some of the newer top coat options.

The fact is we WANT to pose our figures. Give us an option that does not kill the finish.

My clearanced Destro is out for delivery today. I'm looking forward to it.

Wife got me a clearanced Krang for my birthday earlier this week, and I really like it. The legs on his walker aren't quite as tight as I'd like them to be, but he stands on the TMNT shelf and looks cool, so I'm happy.

The fact that I snagged a CC for fifteen bucks really does make me second guess full-price preorders for this line. I'll prolly keep the one I have for Baroness because she looks super cool, but I don't doubt that she'll eventually be abundantly available for 20-30 bucks.
