I kind of find it hard that the tariffs just immediately almost have them out of business overnight. They suck, but that just seems odd to go from "We're at an all time profitability!" to "Whelp, we're basically shutting down!"
Just how small an operation IS Super7? I don't see FMF and [banned], which I have to assume are even smaller operations, basically saying "Well, we're basically going out of business overnight!" Hopefully once they're done with this "restructuring," they'll find their way again, and continue to put out the product their fanbase loves to collect.

I don't want to turn this into a "Hey, let's dogpile S7!" thread, but yes. There are definitely other signs that point to problems within. Wasn't there a corporate buyout last year or a couple years back? There've been severe product delays, crowdfunds failing, product hanging around and being clearanced out, budget-priced rereleases, etc., all before the recent tariffs. They're also located in downtown San Francisco, and that ain't cheap. And that's not even getting into the rumors about internal struggles (which we'll avoid as it's off-site drama).
Hopefully once they're done with this "restructuring," they'll find their way again, and continue to put out the product their fanbase loves to collect. |

Just want to remind everyone that 3rd party investors typically reinvest multiple times. If they had a great last 6 months, and planned on a reinvestment and suddenly had that pulled out from under them with the 145% tariff announcement, that would definitely leave them in a bad spot. Food for thought.

Selling TMNT makes sense as does any of the big brands but then they sell some random figure like a rapper dressed as a super hero. A niche figure that appeals to any even more niche audience. I sometimes feel like S7?s main business is to create figures that S7 wants. I think the issue for S7 going forward is that if they feel they need to focus on core properties like TMNT then they must realize they are deep into the most popular lines. How much meat is left on those bones? |

I am not anti-S7, in fact I have many of their Ultimates figures from the Joe, SilverHawks, and Thundercats, but I truly don?t understand their business model.

How much meat is left on those bones? No one made what we wanted so we made it ourselves. Pretty horrible business model if you ask me. No one was making what you wanted probably because no one else really wanted it, ha. Or rather, not enough people wanted it in order to be profitable making it. I always appreciated them from a design and packaging standpoint. The king of renders! The product itself was pretty bad. Plastic quality, paint, articulation, etc, all pretty terrible on the few Super 7 figures I own. When I first got back into collecting, I picked up a couple of their items on clearance and thought they were pretty good. Then I bought figures from literally any other company and realized how bad their quality actually was. |

They always felt like doing TMNT Ultimates and ReAction whatever was their best business model. They jumped out into so many lines alot of it was pretty crap (the Disney Ultimates) or stuff nobody seemed to want (Star Trek TNG Ultimates).
But also, I have to imagine if they have to raise prices on ReAction the under $20 kitschy "I keep them on the card" ReAction customer probably isn't going to bite. I could see why investors might be scared off, too, with their crowd funding campaigns bombing and so many Ultimates lines being axed. |

The thing that annoys me most about the Ultimates is that Super 7's factory doesn't seem to wait for paint to dry before assembling the figures. So I have to break dried paint in all the joints before it'll move properly.

I have a couple of the GI JOE Ultimates now and started buying their new Thundercats Deluxe releases which still don't feel like a $35 product. They had three Lion-O figures at one of my Target stores and all had terrible paint. I ended up taking a risk and ordering him from Amazon and that one looks great. The figures look good but not quite $35 good. But hey, I completed the purchase so I guess that means some part of my brain thought $35 was acceptable. I am faced with only a bit of buyers remorse.
I definitely felt like the letter Super7 shared on social media was a little sketchy. I noticed a lot of the comments on instagram reflected similar feelings.
