I think they used that group art since it's the more recognizable art worldwide used in albums, lunch boxes, etc... It's the core group of characters so we should should expect those to come as deluxe since most of the casual fans are familiar with Toa...

I just made this montage of pictures to see if there's any difference in coloring between both versions and I have to say there's non... Only difference are the eyes!

Sure doesn't look like it.

I think I'm going to paint the entire figure. I have a May Thamtarana (MayShelf/SculptorShelf) head I have to paint anyway. While kind of true to the source material the skinfur is a little light for me.

EDIT: Added a pic of May's painted piece from his FB. That furskin color looks better to me.
