I rank that Snake Eye / Timber set (the second one) as one of most perplexing miss-steps of the Classified line so far. Along with Retro Lady Jaye and Retro Baroness. All three of these made no sense to me from a marketing standpoint.

Disagree on Baroness. The first was a limited, exclusive release in the Cobra Island subset during the whole pandemic stocking/distribution fiasco, and at a higher pricepoint. By all rights, the Retro should've sold out. Especially being a popular character. It's a headscratcher as to why she's still warming.

I dunno, Hasbro does some things right. The face sculpting all across their 1/12 lines has been top tier lately. The new Mafex Rogue's face looks horrendous compared to some of the stuff Classified and ML has been putting out. The accessories for Classified are great for the price albeit inconsistent at times. Look at Doc and Torch, you get a stretcher, flamethrower with flame effects plus other small stuff. Doing some Target scrounging lately I think that maybe $45 is too much for Mutt & Junkyard. I see tons of them and Metal Head in Targets where everything is sold out everywhere. Metal Head was just a blunder with the missiles where that should never have made it out of design phase. I kinda wonder about the Deluxe $45+ model (figure+pet) for Classified going forward because they seemingly just don't sell. But the $35 price model for the action soldier and diver seems to have sold great, all the stores I go too seem to have sold them just fine.

They use centimeters in Japan so naturally everything will be scale/ designed in centimeters. We use inches here in America so they are very similar but different. So naturally, classified, wrestling, and marvel legends run larger than all imported figures.
With that I don't think there is a true 1/12 scale. It depends in what part of the world you are in Last edited by Snake Pants; Today at 01:32 AM.. |

Japanese stuff tends to be true 1/12 while American 1/12 toys are mostly called that because of them being roughly 6 inches or so. Size comes first for most American lines while scale comes first for Japanese lines. It's not a centimeters versus inches thing. We really shouldn't call lines like Classified and Legends 1/12 but we just do.
Funnily enough this same scale difference between American and Japanese focused product exists in model trains with N Scale being used to refer to 1:160 scale American/European products and Japanese 1/150 (minus bullet trains). Both use the same track so while they are two different scales, they just both get refered to as N Scale.

I fear that Gnawgahyde is going to doom the figure and a pet line. Realistically, there is only one more 'crucial' pet that we need - Law and Order. But if Mutt/Junkyard, and Snake Eyes/Timber v2, Scrap Iron, are any indication - the price point just doesn't sell well. Honestly, out of all of the figure-and-a-pet releases, Gnawgahyde looks the worst.
I think Gnawgahyde looks fantastic but also think he could be sort of a sleeper, where lots of people initially skip on him and then change their minds once he is out. I really want to see all the other pet figures from the ARAH line in Classified so hope it keeps going. My gut is telling me that Road Pig is going to be ridiculously good and will only make the pet assortment more popular.

There absolutely is true 1/12 scale. Math is universal. A model or accessory or figure in true 1/12 scale is exactly 1/12th the actual size of the real-life equivalent, be it an object or person (real or fictional). Steve Rogers is supposed to be 6' 2" in the comics, so a true 1/12 scale figure would be 6 1/6" inches tall (a little taller in costume because of boots, I guess). An M4 carbine is 33" long with the stock extended. In true 1/12 scale that's 2 3/4." I don't have it anymore, but I believe TomyTec's Little Armory M4 Assualt Rifle (LABC01) is almost exactly that length (I think it might be a millimeter off). The M4 that comes with the Classified Crimson Guard is 3" long, minus the bayonet. Imports all seem small because Classified and Marvel Legends are closer to 1/11 scale, but for some reason people just say "1/12" (and sometimes the imports actually are too small). Collectors also frequently refer to figures from NECA and McFarlane as "1/12 scale figures," too, but they're approximately 1/10 scale.

Sooo...how do you think Classified should handle re-releases of expensive secondary market Joes? Like Bludd, Cover Girl, Field Variant Duke, and 00 Snake-Eyes?
Maybe an Archives line like Black Series gets? Really feels like Hasbro is missing a chance to fill out waves with stuff like this instead of blowing through all the big names in new sculpts ASAP. |

Plus we're looking at what - probably three to four successful Haslabs next quarter? As long as Haslabs sell and Wizards continues to fund the entirety of Hasbro they seem quite content. |
