There used to be a military surplus store that had an occult section and you could buy a real human skull. I won’t tell you where the skulls were from though .. this was in columbus ohio on the osu campus in the late 80’s ..

This is a great angle on this topic. Who cares what's legal or not about the skull decor? Some people are just turned off by fictional villains in a kids brand adorning themselves with body part trophies. That's just it. The villains aren't going to care about legalities. I think it's pretty easy to argue this isn't a kids brand anymore.. skulls not withstanding.

I visited Cousins plenty of times in the 1980s, but I must have missed their occult aisle!

Sadly, I do not think they are on High St anymore. Been years since I went looking for them.

People who put deer horns on their car always looks a bit odd to me.. but that is another example of decoration using dead things.

I wonder if they do it in Mexico too.. (due to the whole day of the Dead thing) or if they take the opposite view.. I admit I have no clue as to that aspect of South America Culture

I'd say it does make a difference "who" or "what" the skull is and also if it is real & if real how it was sourced or made of fibre glass or metal. If it is a skull shaped Paldron made out of cast aluminium and painted then.. I expect many people's objections would vanish.

But yeah you can buy human remains.. as weird as that says when you say it out loud or type it.

Some used to be executed criminals some were ermmm "appropriated" from graves (see the Novel Frankenstein for some comments on that).

Speaking of weird things people put on their cars... I can't stand the hanging 'balls' on pickup trucks. Who thought that was a good idea? Immediately tells me you're not the kind of person I could hold a conversation with.

I knew a person once that had a human skull. They always assumed it was fake. Passed down in the family - great grandpa or somebody went to medical school and had it way back when. Odd thing to pass on to the grandkids... (I can't remember how the story ended. I think, once they found out it was real - they looked into it, and they were 'allowed' to keep it... but ended up donating it to a science lab at University)
