Dude, that is EXACTLY the scene that made the Swamp Skier iconic to me. I love that scene. If we can get a scene specific (think about it. He only had the form when he first gets hit with the spores. His DNA comes unglued rather quickly) figure in the form of OAMCC then Hasbro should give us a Chameleon with revised Zartan.

p.s. In Skybound ARAH 306 he's shown riding it.

It felt like there was a LOT of "There's danger in the swamp!" action in 1984... From a play standpoint, I think Zartan fit a lot better with the WHALE, Water Moccasin, even Recondo... were they all sort of coming out that summer? In my memory, which is somewhat foggy, the Joes spent a lot of time in the Everglades. I don't think there was as much NEED to have the Chameleon in the cartoon outside of that scene but if you started there and went straight to the comics (I don't have any idea if they were all coming out the same time?) then Zartan's ride probably made a lot more sense.

Actually dude. You're right. 1984 saw the release of: Zartan/Chameleon, Water Moccasin, Whale, and Sharc.

I had the figure and vehicle first...or at least that how I remember. I used to disguise Zartan as a swamp rat pulling the broken down Chameleon all the time. I added a modded (by my 9 year old self) Bib Fortuna coat to his disguise and would remove his chest plate.

I don't need a new Chameleon to break down. I just want something that looks and feels sturdy. They've done a fantastic job with all the vehicles in that aspect. So if they give us one I'm confident it'll be done well.

What character - not troop builder, does everyone have the most of; in GI Joe or another line?

Easily Darth Vader for me. I must have 40+ figures from all different scales and lines for him going back 30 plus years. For GI Joe, I would say it's probably Cobra Commander or Zartan.

The MANTA was also released in 1984 to add even more nautical vehicles to our collections!

To answer your question, for ARAH the release schedules were typically this:

Regular main line single-carded figures - Late winter, usually was in February or March
Vehicles - Spring to early summer, was usually April to June
Mail Aways - Typically were released at the tail end of the year in late fall or early winter, November to December
Sub Teams (BF2000, Tiger Force, Night Force, Sonic Fighters, Sky Patrol, Eco-Warriors, etc.) - Released towards the end of the year in fall (October to November)

G.I. Joe: Snake Eyes (Mainline, Movie, Alpha Commandos, Snake Eyes and Timber)
Marvel Legends: Iron Man (Original Wave 2 figure, three verisions of the Silver and Red armor, 80th Anniversary, Stealth, Hologram, and a few others)

Oddly, these are not my favorite characters, and I've not tried to intentionally collect them.

In terms of alternates I actually sought out, I do have three ML Dazzlers (disco costume, retro card, Mojoverse) and three ML Rogues (Retro card, Black and Green Suit, modern scarf look, and first appearance look on preorder). For Joe, there really isn't a figure I feel the need to collect multiples of -- just want to find my ideal version.

The only problem is, people already expect more, since the past two campaigns had four figures. And from a certain perspective, expecting another tier isn't expecting more at all, but rather it's expecting the same amount.
