The POPS are cool. They can be displayed anywhere and take up little space. Funko has made such a variety with them.

They are collectable as hell , i have more of them than i should but most have a theme , the gill man is the only monster i want from that series, i picked up the looney toons bugs bunny ?ghost? and the marvin the martian as well , both are interesting

You can call me what you want. I was one of the first to want to stop collecting when I didn’t get the Once A Man Cobra figure on the first day. I didn’t stop collecting. I didn’t say I was going to sell my collection but I was ready to stop trying so hard to get the figures they put up got preorder and cancel what I had preordered. I had done everything right to try to get the OAMCC figure. I had set an alarm so I would be online when they were put up. I spent the five minutes before time refreshing my screen to get started placing the order the second it showed up. I had preordered on the new updated pulse app before so I thought I was ready to go only to get hung up on the phone number problem and have them sell sold out while I was fighting with that. Once I got over being mad and when Hasbro announced there would be more up for order the next morning I went through the process of placing an order for a different figure and worked with the phone number until I got it to accept it I then selected it and copied it then cancelled the order. The next morning when I got one in my cart I went through placing the order and when I got to the phone number I pasted what I had copied in and the order went through. I actually got the figure about a week ago. It should not have been so hard to order a figure from Hasbro. It’s the stress of having to go through so much just to try to get something they are selling is what made me mad that day. I think my post and ones like it got Hasbro to let it be known more were coming. I can’t say this experience didn’t change my collecting but I don't think I will let my hopes get up for being able to preorder everything anymore. I still can’t decide if I will cancel my Rattler or not. That’s a lot of money for a vehicle with upgrades I don’t like and only one figure I really want.

I think the problem is you allowed yourself to get more stressed out about it than usual, past the point of what I'd call "eccentric." At the end of the day, it's a toy, and not worth that much stress to illicit these types of responses. It's not healthy.

Perhaps in the future, if it's something you absolutely, positively "need," I'd suggest what I used to do back in the old days of the SDC Ex's that were never made available online. I set aside a substantial chunk (more than double the price), with the intent of getting it off of eBaY after the con. In like 80% of the cases, I ended up paying less than that (but obviously more than retail). In the small handful where it was more, it really made me decide whether it was worth that or not. In most cases, it wound up being "not."

I think this is the right path. Yes, it's nice to be able to sneak in and get something at retail price (or even below for the sale hunters), but you can't always expect that it's going to work out. For a Classified collector, there is nothing that won't be available on eBay or other secondary markets at or even before release date. Yes, it may cost more, but everything has a price. Stress and time are also an investment. If I miss out on a preorder, buying from eBay is actually cheaper for me than to spend the time it would take scouring brick and mortar in the area hoping for luck or stalking websites trying to jump on a restock.

I get not everyone's resources are the same-- I may have more money and they may have more time and patience. But, I think people often underestimate the value of their time spent trying to get a "rare" figure or saving a few bucks hunting for sales and discounts. Everyone has to make their own calculation, but for me I'm not shy about hitting up eBay if I have to.

The advantage of collecting in this era is there is nothing out of reach -- it's just a question of what you are willing/able to pay to get it.

You and NAM both hit it as close to the mark as possible . Getting stressed out about a toy/collectable whatever is depriving yourself of enjoying the hobby , There is nothing you cant find on ebay , i know everyone doesnt like to pay aftermarket ?scalper prices? as they say but its all supply/demand and sometimes you have to pay to play .
