I've got to think if BBQ came out now - he'd have a removeable helmet. Beachhead only didn't get an alternate head because he's in Retro packaging. Shockwave I can't explain. Any Joe that comes in the future should 100% have a normal, unmasked/unhelmeted/un-scuba-suited head. The line has grown into it. It has earned it.

So far, only Barbecue stands out as not getting an un-helmetted/unmasked head and he was an early store exclusive. Based on "The Viper is Coming", an unmasked head would probably be included these days. Hoping Airtight will get an unmasked head close to his Sunbow/receding hairline look when it is his turn. Blowtorch should get unmasked as well, although not sure if anyone remembers his unremarkable look.
His Marvel #33 appearance is not much different (just less swearing).


Figures like Cobra Commander, Snake Eyes, and Beach Head really do not need an unmasked figure.

Figures like Shockwave and Wolf Spider, do they need unmasked heads? I suppose if you're going to make the first Indian-American Joe then it would be nice to show a little more than just an eye slit. Has Shockwave ever had any media showing him as unmasked, or was the budget better spent getting him a riot shield and other accessories?

I like to think Beachhead wears a mask because in his civilian life he?s a normal guy with a big family. He maintains a level of anonymity to protect his loved ones from reprisals. I think a RTS game with some 4-EX elements would work well for Gi Joe - something not a million miles away from Halo Wars would be good as it could add different planes or vehicles to a research tree and use Dark Energon / Energon as the resource. It wouldn't be difficult to do.

Another idea might be to mash up a cart racer with Micro Machines and make a combat racer of some sort, maybe even one where they are still actually toys. Such a concept would gel very well with a Miniature toy vehicle line too.

Personally I got very strong Gi Joe vibes from things like Perfect Dark, or Far Cry 6 so I think you just swap out Yara for Cobra Island and insert decades worth of Cobra sub-types. Use Named Characters as bosses.

Far Cry especially would work as it has a modest amount of vehicles.
You could even have a wrecked landing craft with some Gi Joe vehicles in it that enable you to use those as well as stolen cobra characters.

They could use Snake Eyes as the protagonist and return to the silent protagonist trope too or have Scarlet as the player alternative.

In certain set mission you could play as others too outside the main game (like as part of the expeditions) Almost everything in Far Cry dove tails perfectly with GI Joe I'd say.

Stinger's in stock on Amazon with a Sunday delivery date. I'm seriously debating on keeping my order, which oddly isn't due to arrive until Tuesday 2 days later when I preordered the day they went up for sale. Between those defective blast effects and blacked out windows I'm not really feeling this one.
