I'm looking forward to putting the Gunner's head onto a regular Trooper or Officer so we can have a red-masked Cobra Trooper! I'm thinking I may give one of the Gunner heads some scarring and make him Scarface (will still have to repaint the neck piece on the Trooper or Officer red though). Was never a fan of the yellow gear though, so definitely leaving the gear black.

Yeah, and what made it more confusing was Lenny confirmed the slide was incorrect at last year's SDCC when the Trooper was revealed and that it was not the "Officer". But then a few months later when the figure came out the packaging was still incorrect. When it was brought to their attention at SDCC it obviously must have been too late to fix the packaging error though.

I used the heads that came with the Python Patrol Officer (second one). It has a red mask and the black balaclava just gets hidden under the helmet anyway. I am sure it is cheaper to get multiple PP Officers than getting multiple Rattler Gunners.

I'm not an opener, but Amazon just a few years ago (as recently as 2021) was also a big crapshoot for MOCers. They shipped a lot of action figures to me in just bags or boxes that were too small or too big many times and the packaging arrived all bent or smashed or dinged up. It wasn't nearly as bad or as as common as it was from WalMart, but it definitely was an issue if you didn't open your toys.

Thankfully, it seems like they have learned. I haven't received anything from Amazon like that since maybe the end of 2021? WalMart has also gotten 100x better (at least for me) and in the past year every package I have received from them came in re-enforced boxes that protect the items incredibly well. Night and day difference from a couple of years ago when nearly every single figure I got from them came in just bag thrashed to hell or was forcefully jammed into a box way too small.

They do not let you open the boxes so you do take a gamble with some stuff but for $10 it was worth it.

Wow, never even heard of that. But that is insanely cool and a great way to army build or get some custom fodder! Can't beat those prices!

Aww, okay this is the kind of thing that just makes me sad and mad at the same time. I hope your sons weren't too disheartened or broken up about what happened. And on Christmas of all days for that to happen too. People suck in this world. I know how devastating that could be to a kid, whether they are giving or receiving the toy.

I agree 100% that both Amazon and Walmart have gotten considerably better at packing action figures. I open everything as well so it's never been a huge issue to me, but still frustrating to see something beat to heck from being poorly packaged.

Target for me has always been the opposite.. they so over pack their items I find it hard to believe that it is cost effective. One time I got a Funko pop in literally 3 boxes (one within the other within the other). Another time I got a Classified figure in a box big enough for a King Bedding set and just stuffed with absurd amounts of bubble packing. No complaints on them trying to keep it safe.. just a pain to disguard all that stuff.. lol

BBTS is my favorite. You can tell they pack with collectors in mind. They use those sort of "build your own box size" style boxes so every single shipment is exactly the size it needs to be to fit perfectly.
