Definitely, backpedaling. ;) It doesn't sell, because it won't sell. Not in the numbers needed to justify the HasLab. It's common sense. As was mentioned (I'm sorry, forgot by who), a lower pricepoint is where you try that. Absolutely not in a HasLab. It's not the place, nor the line to do that. You gotta wonder how many of the bean counters are just waiting for a Joe HasLab to fail, so why hand that to them on a platter?

I view haslab as a place to experiment. A place to make products Hasbro isn't sure they'll be able to profit on with a general release and its also a place for customers to make their voices heard and support product they might not be able to support otherwise. 3 years ago, people probably would have said Haslabing a 1/12 Rattler or Dragonfly would be a fools errand. The HISS Tank funding so fast and at the level it did completely changed the game in a way that we didn't expect.

I think there is merit to trying something different with a Joe haslab to see if that can be successful as well. Put it under the 60th Anniversary or soon to be I believe "Legacy" banner.

The improvements World of Tanks are ones I wouldn't mind being made to the MBT.. which is lowering the height a little and putting a top hatch cover on it and adding front stations.

The only really problem with the MBT is it is based on a TANK design template that is well over half a century old so it is very hard for it to NOT look odd.

That said there are still some modern tanks that have some height to them and are relatively narrow.

So a fair bit of what you'd want to do is add modern Furniture & features to it and well a good portion of that could be made removable to make it look more modern or less modern.

I kinda like the idea of something that looks older once you strip it back and looks more modern once you slap some storage cages on it and some armour blocks some additional removable wheel covers maybe some smoke launchers and even anti-missile defences or some light rocket pods.

You could really dress it up fancy but still pass the squint test if you stripped the tank of all its new finery leaving it naked before us.

From what I understand, HasLabs are direct to consumer "bigger item" releases that brick and mortar won't carry (since TRU's gone). Looking at it from a business perspective, it's a substantial investment for just the concept, design and prototyping stages, and to spend all that on something that's questionable out of the gate, seems like a poor investment and an even poorer dedication of resources. Especially for a company that's always looking to trim the fat on anything and everything they can squeeze Lincolns over. Let's not forget that even something other teams might feel is a "sure thing," like the Rancor and EoV, failed. But this is why they spend so much on focus groups and why the HasLabs we've gotten for Joe have all been sure bets.

I know, and I agree, but that doesn't change the fact that what he's offering is exactly what you're suggesting. Assuming they carry it, if you go through BBTS, it's already been purchased by them, and all he would've received would've been the wholesale price.
