I'm not at all affected when they make changes to the lore either.. as it has nothing to do with if a character looks cool or not. But I am super attached to some characters, but that attachment is 100% based on the nostalgia I have for the original toy versus any media source. Airtight is still the coolest action figure ever to me.. that's why he's my favorite and a must have. The OG-13 are the core of GI Joe to me...because of the toys.

Living on the coast I'd never do free shipping. Something to New York may cost $7 to ship, and the same thing would be $15 or some ridiculous number to California.

I can see someone who liked Kenner 5" figures really digging Gi Joe Extreme as a complementary toy line to a whole host of their Limited articulation "heroic" proportioned stuff.
But I can also see someone who grew up on ARAH or the later 4" lines thinking 12" figures are "Grand Pa's toys" or that 5" figures & Sigma Six are a "novelty line" at best. Sigma Six is likely in that similar position to Transformers Animated - in that it isn't very compatible with the rest of the brand it is part of. Sgt. Savage I guess could play in Classified's sand pit reasonably easily. But boy did they really over do the number of Savage variations to a ridiculous degree.. he is almost like Action Man in that way. https://www.yojoe.com/sgtsavage/ But would I be insulted if they made him as a Classified toy not at all. But I think there would be plenty of people who'd say "Sgt Who?". |

Well Gi Joe is drawing on some of the 1960's spy genre as well.
Killer robots are a stable of sci fi (even if Transformers are not quite the same thing.. that they exist in the same scenario is helped by the BAT existing. & The cartoon had killer robots too i'd note. I think one could perhaps argue the SNAKE suits can be put on autopilot too. Ninjas and Ninja-Commandos are a weird quirk of Gi Joe but there is certainly some similar things in action Movies over the years I guess. But I won't disagree that Ninja's vs Soldiers is a little strange but if you think it through as say the Night Creepers especially they are a kind of cult, but also mercenaries of a kind too and they function well enough as thieves, spys and assassin in the 1980's context. These days you might want to make them a bit more tech-Ninjas and more tech savvy jewel thief like tropes too. As technology has moved on. But as Basic assassins they work fine in their own context. Mind Control is very much in keeping with the spy tropes and I have no issue with that, someone had likely bee watching Star Trek too. Actually Gi Joe is perhaps not a million miles away from Star Trek TOS in tone & in some cases even in content. It has people being replaced, spy stuff, killer robots, lots of Red/Green shirt deaths (less so in the cartoon I guess) They even both share Humanity not being the 1st (main) sentient species on Earth in both franchises (not counting proto humans and whales). I don't want GiJoe to embrace to much of the Bionic Man, Mission Impossible stuff though - but a bit of it doesn't hurt to much. I bet GI Joe would be very very different if being invented now. I always got SPECTRE vibes from Cobra so anything outlandish there was just "But of course - I can see Blofeld doing this!" In a way to me as a kid GI Joe was the Bond toyline I never got. |

I think I am a Disciple of the Fourth Way.I take bits and pieces from the file cards and blueprints, Hama-verse, Sunbow, IDW, and Skybound and mix and match with own head cannon. Since Hasbro has gone pretty lore-agnostic with Classified, I find myself filling the gaps and writing new, updated profiles for the figures for fun.
The figures were always keys to storytelling when I was a kid, so I kind of do the same now. I doubt much of it would appeal to anyone else, but it's how I "play" with my toys these days. |

I like the comic and sunbow and the toys. But more so the newer toys as I think they are better. There’s good and bad in all of it but the good outweighs the bad. IMO

I like the characters and the general worldbuilding but don't stick with one continuity.

There's the 'Adventure Command' line, formerly known as 'Super Joe Unlimited':
https://www.whiteelephanttoyz.com/superjoeunlimited I ignore the ninjas. I know of those as well , while thinking/talking of superjoe i hit the ole ELGOOG AND TOOK A TRIP DOWN MEMORE LANE .. it was fun adventure people/super joe & adventure command i remember having the super joe command base with battle sled boy that thing was terrible but if you have a good imagination you were golden ..
