Just seems like this time around they really pissed off fans. I have seen some WILD comments on instagram and what not. Some people need to get a grip and chill the fuck out. I do wonder if it was all truly worth it for Hasbro and that SDCC limelight.
Jeff, I believe you were also mentioning the other day how vintage BATS go for $85-$100 complete. I wouldn't pay fifteen dollars for one. I wouldn't pay over $20 for ANY O-Ring figure. Just interesting how value is attributed to this stuff. I wonder if 30 years from now someone will pay me $100 for one of my 10 Classified BATs, ha. It doesn't look promising though. As for Classified, I think the chance of it holding any value long term is probably zero. The majority of buyers are adults nostalgic for toys we had as kids. There is not going to be a huge swell of middle-aged kids in 40 years looking to pick up Classified figures they played with as a child. Not only are kids specifically not playing with Classified, but toys in general just don't occupy the same imaginative space and importance as they did when we were young and didn't have the internet, streaming, and video games competing for our childhood dreams. |

People are just generally unhinged online over just about anything and looking to pick fights and push people into extreme positions so they can "dunk" on them. Believe it or not, the 'Tank boards tend to be some of the least combatative I've found but that's likely because we're mostly a bunch of nerdy old dudes.

I wish I HAD passed on the Retro CGs because the red doesn't go with the rest of the mainline Crimson reuses
I figured I'd have 4 CGs to guard Baroness and two look out of place with everyone else now. |

I bought my nephew a couple Classified for his birthday. It was like I told him school was year round now. He could not have been more disappointed. Replaced those with a card for some Fortnight stuff.. I'm the cool uncle again. Oh well I guess. There is not a time of the day or night I don't log onto my Switch and see him online playing Fortnight. Kid couldn't pretend his way out of a paper bag, but he'll destroy me in seconds in any video game I can think of.
Not to mention, some kids make money off video games. I dunno, I dont look at it as being any worse than when I was a kid. Kids just have different interests these days. Technology plays a big part. I bet your nephew will be able to convert a PDF like a MFer. I know tons of people at work that cant do that. |

Chill. It'll be okay if you don't get something. Did these people never have a moment of disappointment in their lives? How do they deal with REAL WORLD problems? By comparison - HissTank dudes are some of the most relaxed, cool people... just going about our lives talking about our hobby. |

If it's something I genuinely/specifically want for myself, for my collection, then no, not that much. I'm more concerned about whether it's a good deal and am I getting bang for my buck? And also, is there a way to help subsidize the cost? Like selling off an alternate head or weapon (I do a ton of that).
However, I've been selling on ebay for about 10 years now, and it's become a very steady 4th stream of income for myself and my family. (The more healthy streams of income, the better, right?) So overall, when something is released, hell yes that pops into my head. I think it does for many folks, but they don't want to admit it. But the market has shifted. In my opinion, trying to flip new releases now is a dangerous game. Too much risk, too much money up front, for too little reward. And I think the collectors are enjoying the benefits of the market shift. The vast majority of stuff that comes out now can be had on ebay for at or below original retail (with exceptions, of course). Quote:
I keep far more than I sell overall, but I do sell certain things to help fund collecting mostly. Like HasLabs. I always keep one, and get as much as I can to fund that one and whatever else I may buy.
I like seeing my savings account grow more than my toy count. If I have to dip into my savings on the regular or blow up credit cards to buy toys, then I won't buy toys. Maybe most collectors are rich and buy $2000 worth of figures a month from their paycheck like it's nothing, but that's not me. That is where I am like Trigger2K and I used selling to fund my collecting. In reality I have never paid for a HasLab since I buy multiples and piece them out. I have a Skystriker, HISS tank currently and will have the Dragonfly, all for essentially nothing out of my pocket. I enjoy doing it because it keeps me connected to my childhood (ARAH) and current (ReAction, Ultimates and Classified).
