This is where I'm at, too. I just buy what I dig. I never sell, even if the figures become valuable, so that doesn't really matter. I'll just find it interesting that I have a "rare" and expensive piece.

As for the Hot Toys: I have to chuckle, at that, as well. When everyone was selling off their entire Dark Knight and MCU collections (because of this ^), I held on to mine. I bought them because I love the movies and characters, not because I thought that I'd make millions, one day.

Just because someone like Serpentor is valuable and popular - I still didn't have any personal draw to him... so I don't own him.


Growing up - collecting comics and baseball cards - I was always taught, "they are only worth what someone is willing to give you for it". So - collect for yourself. None of this stuff is an investment.

It is not much, according to the last 30-60-90 days, but goes around $30-35.

Same here. That is probably why. Nobody was buying them so they just got pulled from WM. Reminds me of Buzzer from the 25th line. Nobody had trouble finding him in stores than shot up to around $50 carded a couple years ago.

The only time I've bought into something as an 'investment' is the HasLabs. And that is more of an 'investment in the line' - not a financial return for myself. I'll back something to help the cause before I look to make a profit for myself.

If it's something I genuinely/specifically want for myself, for my collection, then no, not that much. I'm more concerned about whether it's a good deal and am I getting bang for my buck? And also, is there a way to help subsidize the cost? Like selling off an alternate head or weapon (I do a ton of that).

However, I've been selling on ebay for about 10 years now, and it's become a very steady 4th stream of income for myself and my family. (The more healthy streams of income, the better, right?) So overall, when something is released, hell yes that pops into my head. I think it does for many folks, but they don't want to admit it. But the market has shifted. In my opinion, trying to flip new releases now is a dangerous game. Too much risk, too much money up front, for too little reward. And I think the collectors are enjoying the benefits of the market shift. The vast majority of stuff that comes out now can be had on ebay for at or below original retail (with exceptions, of course).

I never saw them in the wild here. The only Retro I've seen in person that I didn't order online for myself are Lady Jaye and Baroness.

Also - Those are the same questions, that I ask myself, when purchasing any collectibles. That's all I care about. Future value means very little, to me.

Thats how ive felt about every haslab ive backed i was into vintage star wars a little bit when the barge came out and it was the first haslab and i had a credit card that was never used so i backed it ,unicron damn right cookie monster i tried along with the rancor/ghost rider car , ghost busters is great but i dont need a proton pack hanging in my closet taking up that space didnt back the ghost only backed the razor crest for my son and only backed the skystiker because it was gijoe .
I backed the haslabs i backed to help and keep them coming.
I dont buy anything for the profit, im a nerd @ least the gf thinks so ..

I'm wondering if I am the norm, or an outlier. But I don't give two flying fucks if any of this stuff will be worth money later. Like, I didn't want OAMCC because he's a hard to acquire exclusive. I just wanted the figure because it looks cool.

I definitely don't either. It could be all worth less than MSRP 10 years from now, I don't give a crap. I open every single one of my toys. I collect what I like because I like it, not because it's worth something or could be worth something in the future. I only collect for fun, not for monetary gains or potential investments.

I don't ever plan on getting rid of anything in my collection.

Was thinking that too, but it said available for a good 2-5 minutes which kind of makes me think that was an actual batch that went up. Who knows at this point though, right?
