Besides there is something appealing about the ridiculousness of the Snakey one anyway. & to be honest I kinda like the Classified dark blue one better anyway - even now still.

I will probably mix and match my MMCoCo with the retro one as there are elements of each one that I like better.

OAMCC is a variation of one of the most popular characters in the brand. And from a movie, which will divisive, has probably been seen by a huge number of fans, and even non-fans, of the brand over the last 4 decades. Hence demand for him. Throw in the some semi-forced-scarcity, and he's a hot commodity.

Starduster has none of that going for him. We'll see how they handle his scarcity. I don't think he'll be a failure, but I don't see him being that in demand.

Joe collectors don't seem to care as much about packaging as Star Wars collectors. If an identical figure is released in a new package with different paint, they'll get that over the more expensive exclusive, taking away future resale value of the exclusives.

Looking at the charts on ActionFigure411, Classified figures tend to spike in price during the small window when they are available in select locations but not full distribution. I don't know if it is FOMO or the desire to be the first to have something, but people are paying a premium to be one of the first in line. But, over time, the prices drop (usually below retail) and then gradually climb back up as time goes on and figures become a bit less available.

If the OAMCC price surge is being driven by people buying multiples and trying to flip, it is a dangerous game because the market could easily saturate or, as you mentioned another version might come out. CI Beach Head and Firefly tumbled in average resale price once the second versions were announced. The same could easily happen to OAMCC if Hasbro has a second run planned that saturated market demand.

If someone is concerned about price, now is the absolute worst time to chase an OAMCC on the secondary market. It is going to come down in price and pretty fast is my guess.

I prefer the ARAH colors on MMCC, but also like the vac metal head on retro CC. If I can bring myself to open MM I may put a retro head on it. Hopefully the blue isn't too far from a match.

UPDATE:

Commander and Death's Head are on the way AND Pulse has updated their emails to link directly to tracking instead of going through their website. That alone is worth the hassle of the new setup in my opinion.

It's also a bad time to chase OAM since he's been popping in and out of Pulse all day. Just saw him "low stock" a few minutes ago. I get that not everyone can be bothered to keep checking or waiting and just drop whatever on it.

Speaking of Beach Head, I somehow ended up with 4 from Target. They were selling for around $55 before the retro and I got $40 for the 3 I sold. It took a while to sell them too. He's also a different version from the retro. If they were the same sculpt people wouldn't even want to pay retail.
