A good amount of you responded to my "Will we ever get this guy?" post. As you may have noticed, everyone on my list was black. Hasbro should start including more POC. Some on my list are really really cool. Hopefully Hasbro steps up.
That said ... here's my whiteboy list. Will we ever see these guys? Steam-Roller Keel-Haul Crankcase Cross-Country Armadillo Wild Card Backblast Salvo Overlord Barricade T'Jbang Night Creeper Leader Effects Space Shot Big Brawler Sideswipe Horror Show Laser Viper Ice Storm Sgt. Major Duncan Crankcase on the other hand I think we could see soon-ish, maybe even next year, it really depends on when we get the AWE Striker. Keel Haul is another impossible HasLab, but maybe he gets thrown in with a different nautical vehicle because there's no way we're getting the USS Flagg at this scale lol. For your non-drivers I only know Backblast & T'Jbang, both of which I'd like to see someday. Since we have Arctic Storm Shadow already and the classified line seems to be rather into Ninjas, I'd say T'JBang will have a higher chance of getting made sooner than Backblast as of right now, anyway. Can't speak to quite a few of the others, don't recognize most of them. It's pretty clear you came in later in the line with who you've asked about though, and I firmly believe Hasbro will meet many of those needs for the late line characters eventually, especially anyone tied to a sub-team like the vipers or IGs, etc.

I think a Winter themed "Main Character" would be a nice Haslab tier item.. but I can't see them doing a snow-themed Haslab really and I also can't see any reason why they can't just make a Destro, Baroness, Cobra Commander and Mind bender in a winter gear over time... much like I can't see why they wouldn't make Desert Zartan eventually.
But Wetsuit Baroness is the super obvious inclusion with a Haslab Moray Hydrofoil.. so long as people don't complain about her being tier locked or it being 2 Baroness in a (Cobra) row. But yeah Flight Suit Cobra Commander would be proper strange.. if he's going to fly anything I'd think he'd be doing it in his battle armor. As for vehicles what is "popular" isn't always the same as what makes sense. & some things people might buy if they made them but wouldn't think to ask for them.. like say a Stellar Stilleto or a Cobra Pogo or an Imp. As for the wider point of what they should be doing I think they kinda implied the worth themselves with the whole "World of Hiss Tank" thing. They made an item of specific colour (black and red) and then made a lot of things that complement it and left themselves a set up for more later on (like the Stun). The MOBAT is a tricky one and perhaps I don't have the space here to get into it. but one argument you can make is that it is the logical progression of RAM to VAMP to tank. But to be honest I'd be perfectly OK with a Wolverine (regardless off cost with working tracks) outside of the Haslab. That is why I want a Cobra Artic Hiss at some point as I think it is a good thematic unlock to encourage more snow-stuff. If they 'for example' made that Moray Hydro Foil then the chances of getting a Piraha or a Devilfish go up and any other boats they do suddenly have a centre piece to work around. (exactly like with the Hiss). So any Haslab that doesn't do that I would consider less useful. Even the Dragonfly and Rattler get some bleed through.. not a lot maybe, but some. But the Hiss did it better and will continue to do it better likely too as like Stingers for example make your hiss tank better. So will the eventual STUNS.. so would an ASP. But there would be no serious reason to make an ASP at all if there wasn't a Hiss and a Stinger.. but because there is they suddenly seem much more useful.. and once they make that ASP that in turn raises the probability of a Python Patrol Stinger and Python Patrol Asp too. That is how I'd like Haslab to ideally work. So yeah they could make a Night Raven Haslab for 2026 and I'd be "fine" with that.. but a lot of the bleed through would already be done with the Rattler and so in a greater sense it would be a static piece. But if they made a Moray.. a whole new environmental theme is unlocked. Just kidding keep going! 🤣

I'm not certain I would really expect Hasbro to 100% stick to the initial plan for Haslab Gi Joe Classified. But I would hope they would (mostly) stick to the alternating of Gi Joe with 'The Enemy'.
The kind of change I wouldn't complain about is if they decided to put say a Destro's DEMON in for 2026 and then instead of going back to Joes went onto another Cobra.. so long as that Cobra wasn't a Ground Vehicle that wouldn't be changing the plan so much as adding to it. So if they do stick to the plan then I hope that means they are not going to be only stuck on air and ground vehicles and will consider a Boat.. really there is only 2 water borne craft that I would expect the Moray and the Whale. The Water Moccasin I would anticipate being a Hasbro Pulse exclusive instead. There is a few Air vehicles that would make nice Haslabs (especially for Cobra) & the Conquest X-30 I would also expect them to just make normally (because they wouldn't want to interfere with their own repaint potential on that one). There is some modestly large vehicles like the Razorback that might (very long term) be worth a risk as a Haslab perhaps if only because they don't have a lot of repaint potential... where as a Cobra RAGE does so making that as a Haslab wouldn't be efficient. So I don't think Hasbro would be in a Hurry to make a Night Force Whale. But they seem to be keen to not sell anything crazy expensive other than the Robosan stuff on Pulse. I can't say I blame them.. I doubt they have sold 20,000 RC Grimlocks for example on Pulse. But I do wonder how people would react if they did say up front that they actually wanted to repaint something ? (Like the Whale). No one batted an eyelid when they sold expensive Ghostbusters stuff on Pulse outside a Haslab for example. But I have to wonder how it would change their Calculations if they thought if they did make a Whale and then could repaint it later would that factor into their costs.. or would they still expect 100% return + Profits at the same level rather than keeping the costs down maybe selling more than they otherwise might and then further compensating with repaints. I saw a Python Patrol Whale custom for example that was very appealing. The advantage of being upfront about wanting to repaint a Haslab would save a lot of headaches long term... I think they just want to farm the FOMO as long as possible though (unfortunately). |

Here's a scenario for you (begin rampant speculation):
Hasbro produced OAMCC in good quantity, however they paid for "fast shipping" from Asia for enough inventory to comfortably fulfill demand at SDCC. The rest of the inventory is coming via the "slow boat" which is why it's a September pre-order. Sound plausible? It will be interesting to compare the date stamps between the SDCC and September versions, to see if they were from the same batch or were manufactured months apart... |

Did anyone who ordered yesterday get an earlier estimated shipping date than 9/15? Order confirmation at 1:02, order detail says this pre-order item will be available to ship on approximately September 15, 2024. I thought they were selling the SDCC leftovers, but that shouldn't take another month to get in the mail.
I actually expected to get charged immediately yesterday after my order .. i dont know why i was thinking that was going to happen

I think the shipping date has probably been defaulted on the website to the preorder coming today. It would be a substantial break from how Hasbro does things to charge immediately for a not in stock item. It would be a standard thing for Hasbro to have a jacked up web site.

I have to say, it is absolutely hilarious watching so many Classified collectors turn into crazed maniacs over OAMCC while it is following--to nearly a tee, I might add--the exact same release pattern as Chuckles.
Even at 28, I feel like a figure collecting elder who has to "When I was a boy..." about how SDCC Exclusives used to work. If you weren't there, you didn't get them! That was it! The only comic Luke Cage for over a decade, the only comic Hela ever! DCUC Lobo! Countless Lego Minifigs! |
