I went through this over the last few months with MOTU Origins Terroar and Lord Gr'Asp. There isn't scarcity until there is. They sold out just as quickly on Wal-Mart when they went up as CoCo did today, and Terroar came back briefly - so 8+ weeks of "how can I get these?"

(I ended up having a friend buy a few from a Smyth's in London and ship them to me.)

Last week they went up on BBTS, but also disappeared in a few hours. Will they be fulfilled? Won't they? I dunno - but it is hella frustrating.

Was able to order a CoCo today (just one I promise!) which I may try to flip to offset the cost of the one I bought fresh off of SDCC last week.

You could argue that something that sells out in 4 minutes doesn't need any extra help to get people talking, but the forced scarcity thing is one of the oldest tricks in the book, so I think there is some truth to it.

Looks like SDCC ran until the 24th that year. If you ordered on the 23rd it was probably through the leak that was posted everywhere. lol

I think it would go a long way if Hasbro would simply just communicate better. Maybe just say "Hey, don't worry if you missed out, we're making more". It'd probably help with easing the meltdown online. Why not control the narrative better? The only logical reason is.. they know the people that are saying they're leaving the line, will be fine as soon as they can order another one.. so they don't have to say anything.

The bad thing about being a collector of anything is.. we're very predictable.

FOMO is also a driver of sales and gets them free advertising. Once something has perceived value, it becomes more desirable and those who might have been equivocating before might pull the trigger.

And, to put it in perspective, it's not like OAMCC is unavailable. It may cost you $100 to $120 instead of $40, but it can be had pretty readily if someone really wants it that badly.

That being said, I hate the exclusives circus and wish companies wouldn't do it, but it's part of the game . . .unfortunately. You either get lucky, pay a premium, or live without them.

Well that's exactly it -- I could spend those crazy numbers on the missing pieces of my collection, but at the end of the day, I have to weigh what I need more in my life, my rent paid, or one more beautiful piece of plastic that reminds me of my childhood. Sometimes it is the latter. lol

Yes the link got released around 6 pm that Saturday night. I remember it well. Ordered Mindbender, paid for shipping. Ordered premium, re-ordered Mindbender with free shipping.
