My brother had this same exact issue and it was one of my favorite ones and I loved that cover. I had completely forgotten about it but somehow it was still there in my subconscious.

Steeler came with the Armadillo Tank in the 25th line in 2008

I think because the green is so pale on Retro Stalker and because the webbing has no paint picking anything out (like the grenade) the black parts for me are not 'to' contrasting. Instead of him looking camouflaged he looks stand out because of the visual contrast.

I don't think swapping parts would help either. I guess Accuracy can sometimes cause problem when accuracy looks poor at a different scale. The webbing stands out way more on the modern figure as there is more of it what with the leg holsters also being black.
The original had darker green camo which also bridged the gap with the black batter and also matched the "green guys" a bit better too.

As for Version 2, he's OK personally I'd rather have version 4 with version 2's boat.

The retro one they made to me looks more like Version 6 (1997) & version 5 (2004) not in terms of colour details, but in terms of just looking so pale as those two do.

Not sure if they'd ever do that one but I like the more complex design.

It will be interesting to see which of the designs they use for inspiration if they ever decide to make a Night Force Stalker at some point.
