I do not know that I can claim that. That was just how I remembered things from my childhood (despite aping Hama and using Stalker as a field commander for many missions), and I checked yojoe to make sure I was not going senile.

If I had to guess, ranks changed with subsequent figures to show development/growth (whereas Duke may have remained static to reflect that commitment mentioned in his v1 card). This is all speculation.

I did like your explanation, though, about both men and their particular strengths and skill sets.

Looks like normally an officer would lead a tank platoon, but individual tank commanders should be at least an E-6. Maybe that has changed over the years.

And somewhere I could swear I saw Steeler listed as an O-4 (major)! Cannot remember where I saw him published like that. Back-up pin-up in a Marvel comic maybe?

When I addressed this in my novel, I had Hawk talk to him about how the unit was primarily infantry based and as such, he would be having Stalker lead the missions Hawk himself was not leading. You are correct, though, in that Steeler was the only other officer in the original group and would have outranked everyone until I think Ace came along.

Steeler would have been in charge of any artillery operations that Hawk was not a part of.

I can actually see this. Once you have Stalker or Hawk slotted in to lead the mission, what does he bring? There are a heck of a lot of really cool Joes to fill out a team. I do not know about 100, but I see the argument.

Night viper is a top pick for me the poc/retaliation version was a great figure and a long way away from the original , i would bet marine sniper will be used not only for stiletto but another baroness as well ..

Also i do believe rawkus is just junkyards body w/a different head the more i looked @ them both .. they cheaped out now i dont think the will put orders head on timbers body a wolf and a German Shepherd or any kind of shepherd only look slightly the same. I guess we will see ..

It does feel like we've seen a lot of that lately. Interesting that none of the $35+ SDCC preorder figures have managed to hit "sold out" status. Both of the named characters are B-list, but I'm curious if sticker shock is contributing to that too.
