My immediate reaction to the Zandar render was stunned disbelief and smiling ear to ear! I wasn’t expecting Tony to say, first off, that Zandar was Zarana’s twin, and that the scarf is torn material from Zarana’s jacket!! I’m as giddy as a schoolgirl!
Zandar’s render is great. It’s a nice blend of modern and vintage. Didn’t think I’d like Zandar with a shirt or jacket, but it’s a great update. The classic, iconic pink scarf is there and the shoulder armour update gives him a deadly element to his glam rock appearance in a very balanced way. I don’t mind the darker colors on Zandar, but I think his hair (EDIT: Looked at it under magnification and it's long enough. ) The only real critique I have, and I’m not sure how to put it, is Zandar’s face. Someone else said it looked lifeless. Zarana has that fierce snarl, Zartan has his sinister smile, and I think Zandar needs a more expressive face (not that silly Spock eyebrow thing he has happening in the original). His face itself seems too… I don’t know how to put it. He needs to look like Zarana, but male, like he does in the Marvel comic and the Sunbow series. His facial features are also edging toward being ugly. He should look almost fey, fine featured. He’s shorter and has a lighter build than Zartan at 5’8” but he’s the same height as Zarana. There’s still room for a retro Zandar. Maybe even a Zarana & Zandar 2 pack one day! I have more to say, but not right now. I’m just glad we’re getting a Zandar figure at all! Thank you Lenny, Emily, Tony, and everyone else on the Hasbro Joe team! EDIT: After looking at Last edited by Dreadnok Twins; 07-28-2024 at 10:12 AM.. |

If it does end up being the Mauler, they could definitely push the price by making it entirely motorized, like the original. Maybe even give it swappable turrets, like Ramen did.

Okay, so maybe I'm a little dense, but how exactly are the tiers factored into the cost of the HasLab, when you still have to unlock them? Shouldn't the tiers be 'extra toppings' that helps lower the cost of production? For example, they'd get a better price from the tofactory per unit when they order 18k units as opposed to 9k units?
or... is the idea that regardless of rather or not tiers are unlocked, the tooling for the additional figures is going to be produced, and potentially used for future figures... However, by unlocking the tiers, we help them pay for that new tooling cost early, and as a thank you we get bonus figures made from said new tooling? Tiers have nothing to do with moldings, tooling, casting, materials, funding, etc. The tooling may receive a small change but that would be a rare case and that would only depend on how poorly received the marketing ploy of those "tiers" results. Tooling is done, which is why you saw the "demo" or "prototype" (which really isn't) at SDCC. It really is just a showcase of what is to come. Tiers are an illusion to get you to believe that with your moneys, you are contributing to the efforts to fund for the tools necessary to create the unlocks, when in fact the truth is you are just paying back for the marketing of their product. If zero tiers were unlocked, we will still see all those figures released later on, showcased as follow up deluxe packs, new singles or just future releases. If this Baroness fails to unlock, I guarantee you'll see her later on... and if not her exactly, you'll see a strangely similar figure that uses her already made tooling that was apparently "discarded" because it failed to meet it's backer tier. Let's pretend that zero "tiers" were unlocked for the Rattler, what you probably won't see released later on are the patches, as the production cost for those is so minimally small, Hasbro won't even feel a loss. I'll even wager that the majority of those patches are already manufactured and are either sitting in a warehouse in China or locked in a few Maersk containers floating on the Pacific. The patches are a consumer test analysis, disguised as a marketing strategy, disguised as an unlockable tier. |

A Retro version 2 snake eyes is one of my biggest wants next to a Retro Flint. Sure the 00 Snakes Eyes was great for the start of the line, but is severely dated now compared to newer offerings. He's too short and skinny plus the pins. I'm hoping he will get the Retro Duke treatment and Hasbro will give us a muscled up v2 Snake Eyes with the bodysuit that matches the v2 card art.

I may be the oddball here, but I feel like the first Classified Snake-Eyes and the Snake-Eyes and Timber two-packs come close enough to V2 Snake Eyes that I wouldn't be jumping for a new one. Snake-Eyes has a pretty simple and iconic look and I think the version I have fit my mind's eye enough that I'm content. V2 doesn't seem like it would stand out as that much different.
That being said, I do think it is important they have a version of Snake-Eyes out there routinely so new collectors can get one. I'd like one, but mostly because I've been patiently waiting for a better Snake Eyes v2 before I pick one up. Was late to classified and missed 00, never bothered picking up 02, then passed on the v2 Timber pack because I already had the Alpha Commando one. I have an Origins v2 that I bought for $5, but he doesn't really count. I'm in for at least one Retro v2, maybe a second for the wall if it presents well on card. |

I they made a stinger variant that was a half track for snow use I'd be interested in that... but new vehicles are problematic as the lack of interest in the coil cycle by so many seems to show.
A lot of the "sonic attack" era vehicles were way to sci fi for example for some. I guess it is simply down to "does it look like it belongs in the line ?". But I will say I am kinda sceptical. even if I do see something "real" sometimes and think 'That would make a goo Gi Joe vehicle" so if that is what they are doing too then we might be OK perhaps. But like I said I'm sceptical about the desirability of new vehicles. Maybe one wouldn't hurt. |
