Bigger venues/events/etc. in general have been less fun since lockdown ended but with the summer ick wave rolling, I don't even want to go to small events right now. Too many stories from artists who work the con circuit or concertgoers who hang out in the pit getting sick over the last few weeks.

I don't want to drive because I'm meeting people for drinks? I get an Uber. I don't want to pay hundreds of dollars to attend a convention only to stand in line to buy a toy? I'll pay the person who does. Maybe it'll be an obscene finders' fee, but they're still doing the work and I'm just clicking "buy it now." Fine by me in this instance - wouldn't make a habit of it across the line. Heck, I have my first two Hiya GI Joe figures arriving by USPS today. I spent $50 on them? Can easily sell them for $350 right now and have more than enough to cover the CC spread.

SDCC actually had that but it got ruined by groups of really lame people who would just line up all day and go buy Exclusives all day long instead of acting like a normal attendee. They just lined up Soviet style for anything that had a line open up and it was a pain to move through all those lines they created waiting. Which was all they did all SDCC btw.

that night force falcon looks great.
if i was a kid i'd be begging my mom to track him down right now. my problem is he looks "too cool." he doesn't really fit with my almost exclusively 82-86 more or less retro display. and i only have space left for 13 joes, some 82-86 joes have already not made the cut. can't use that valuable space on a guy that doesn't look like the rest of the bunch. maybe they can retro that version up. but congrats hasbro design team. great figure. Never been to SDCC but agreed I just don't see the point financially, time wise. Maybe 20-25 years ago. Even Emerald City Comic Con here in Seattle I don't normally buy a ticket; no travel expenses involved but I'm really only going to shop vintage toys so it's just not worth the price of admission. There's a smaller con in the area, Summercon, and even that one was $50 to get in and still sold out. I'm not really into meeting actors, etc. which seems to be most of the appeal these days. It was cool talking to John Giang a couple years ago though.

Duke and Scarlett just arrived from MU. I heard the new cardbacks were thick but damn, this is like crazy thick.
They still managed to smash Duke's bubble before putting it in the box but he's an opener anyway so whatever. Next up: triple thick clamshells. |

Wait until you try to cut out the file cards. Good lord you need DeWalt battery powered shears.
