I can't even log on to the site (says my password has expired, but I've reset it at least 5 times now and even after doing that it either says my password is still expired or that my login is unauthorized.
I submitted a ticket a few days ago but have not heard back at all. They screwed the pooch on this revamp. Not only did they not make sure the new site was stable and working before they completely got rid of the old site, but they chose to do it a week before SDCC? Seems like many mistakes were made by more than a few people at Hasbro and their IT department and the team in charge of the site overhaul. I read earlier the Tags and payment systems are a mess. Nothing I've heard about the New Pulse Site has been good. I can't even imagine how it'll be fighting the website in the next week or so. during the Haslab.

Welcome! I never owned the Headquarters Command Center. I don't expect to see an exact upscale of the entire thing but I'm hopeful we get parts of it eventually in Classified scale.

Truth. The cartoon was free, everyone could enjoy it. I don't think it was very good but for a lot of people, the cartoon *is* GI Joe. At the same time, the comic was one of Marvel's best-selling properties in the mid-eighties when comics were more popular and affordable than they are now. I don't think the brand would have sustained itself without both. |

Copperhead for example may have snuck through as "at the time" they were on a downer for boats and didn't feel they wanted to make his craft. "or" they were thinking if they did make one including a generic driver/gunner figure or swamp viper etc.. so that people would be more likely to multi-buy. I wouldn't mind slightly different drivers but some might wonder why you'd do that & what is wrong with the ones we have already. Perhaps a Giftset isn't a bad idea. I have said before I rather like the idea of a single release Lamprey as they are s kinda of sailor that is used as more than just a vehicle driver.. but I would likely "Heac-canon" the silver-blue version as a Moray driver and the Orange-blue version as the general use sailor. I suppose if I get my christmas wish then if they do decided to make the Moray Hydrofoil the 2026 Haslab then they can always release the red/blue deco one as a single release later. I suppose it is possible they might do a generic Cobra "armour driver" similar to Rip-It and Hiss Drivers are not always dressed in red so there is an excuse for that one for sure. If they decide to do a Python Patrol Stinger then I'd 100% want a brand new deco for the driver for that that isn't like any previous release so that would likely be heavily leaning on the Version 2 colours of Python Patrol (similar to the vehicles) or he's be very grey and yellow. To be honest I kinda dig the idea of the Version 2 colours being applied to something like a Shock Trooper & Televiper ish colours might provide more contrast they could perhaps give him yellow pant and a grey shirt (so sort of the reverse of usual). I think personally I'd prioritise "Officers" ahead of vehicle drivers (with perhaps a few exceptions to that general preference). So things like a Tele-Viper Officer or a (version 2) Alley Viper Officer would have a lot of appeal to me. I can see the Retro card line being a possible place to put a BAT Officer too as that then sidestep a bit how similar the colours are to the IG BAT. |

The cartoon had more reach, but it's painful to try and watch as an adult today. I struggle to get through an entire episode if I'm not doing something else at the same time to distract me from how awful they usually are. The comic wasn't always great, but an albatross? From a storytelling perspective, the cartoon never came close to the peaks that the comic hit.
It started matching the goofiness almost parallel to the cartoon when the cartoon was introduced for obvious reasons.

While i read some of the comics, my joe exposier was much more the cartoon, in fact the first time i remember anything G.I. Joe was watching the first episodes on our local NBC station at noon on Saturday, the first several mini series were not goofie in my opinion, more serious with some humor, as the serious became a daily show the quality went down as did the seriuos tone of the show, but the original first episodes always felt more mature especially for the early 80s

It?s my main reason and resource as to why Stalker is a top 3 Joe for me. Criminally underrated and underutilized character that had so much depth back in the early days of good ole fashioned comic reading.

I always wanted the Stealth Fighter as a kid, but my parents could never find it in stores near us. I'm pretty sure it's too big for Classified, but even so, it would definitely fit the description of a Haslab, as being a one-of-a-kind dream project.

Very well stated. I think acceptance of goofy gi joe would be a lot lower today if more fans grew up and read the comic first seeing how gi joe was originally intended and introduced to the fans; darker and more serious toned. Especially early on.
It started matching the goofiness almost parallel to the cartoon when the cartoon was introduced for obvious reasons. The Sunbow cartoon was definitely goofier and intended for a younger audience -- they also had to deal with much heavier censorship. But, I would not characterize the comic book as dark or gritty. It dealt with a lot of heavy themes, but there was also a lot of the goofy elements there. And, honestly, I would blame the evolution of the toy line more than the cartoons for the growing absurdity in the Joe comics. The O13 wave was a bunch of green army men, the next wave introduced more colorful characters and sci-fi vehicles and each wave seemed to top the one before-- the comic had the mandate to incorporate and feature all these new elements. The job of the comic and cartoon was to sell the toys so they had to sell whatever Hasbro was dishing out. |
