Because, the same people who complained about windowless packaging so they could see the figure/paint apps would complain that they can't see the accessories and HASBRO would be trying to short them and leave stuff out of the packages. There is no win/win. I liked everything about the windowless, never had anything missing, never had issues with accessories except the natural gumminess for awhile there.

I agree, there is no win/win, one of the arguements i heard against windowless package was people swapping the figures and returning them, i literally just saw a batman figure replaced with hulk hogan and returned, or packages on the pegs with empty spaces where the BAF was located or weapons missing, so saying having windows makes it easier to not steal, umm, no
I never personally had an issue with swapped product or missing parts in windowless packaging but I usually order from Pulse and, if not Pulse, always an online retailer, so I don't have to deal with packages that have been in the hands of the public before sale. The two arguments I am most persuaded by with windowed packaging is that it displays better for those who wish to keep figures in-box and that windowless packaging looks "cheap" as we are used to bubble, clamshell, or windowed options for our toys. |

Like I think it was someone here who said they ordered Classified from Gamestop and all the packages had nothing but wires in them. That's clearly somebody in the warehouse stealing shit and replacing it. In store swaps I think were less the issue than returns supposedly "sealed" that were not the item but you can't tell. Although I hit some Targets and Walmarts where someone clearly must have sliced open the packages, took the figures, replaced it with nothing, and hung them back on the pegs. You could feel they were 100% empty. And given the morons who work at these places, the people checking stuff probably won't even notice. Last edited by IzzyTipsy; 07-12-2024 at 12:04 PM.. |

Another issue was the inability to see QC issues. I've had a few friends buy Legends and then have to take them back because legs or arms were assembled backwards or on the wrong side, etc. If they could have seen that at the store they'd have passed them by, or maybe Target doesn't even put that figure out since it's clearly nonfunctional.
Instead they have to then go spend more money to go back to Target to exchange (and hope THAT item isn't defective) or return. Which means money spent ordering it somewhere else and hoping it's not defective. Nobody wants a Rogue with two left legs. |

It happens because the folks processing returns are instructed to make the return as easy as possible rather than inspecting the item. This happened when I worked retail, someone would buy a power tool that came with a case, take it home take the tool out, fill the case with trash and return it saying they ended up not needing it. Then it would end up back on the shelf and sold to another customer who would get it home, open it up, and then come back angry wanting to know why we sold them a case full of trash. I worked at a small business so we were able to modify our process to prevent this, but even so with all the employee turnover etc. I'm sure it will happen again at some point. I don't have a lot of faith that a huge corporation with thousands of employees handling returns every day would be able to make it 100% foolproof either, but maybe?

It reminded me of Don Cheadle introducing himself as the new War Machine in Iron Man II.

I remember when I'd go to a Walmart every day at lunch the figures were Legends figures were almost ALWAYS stolen out of the windowed packages. Plus they kept getting "returns" of blatantly repainted wrong figures painted to barely look like the character it was supposed to be (saw someone had returned a ML Jackal colored partly purple in a Green Goblin box!). Every time I'd point it out the store workers would just roll their eyes and move on. And the items would stay on the shelf either blatantly repacked or just empty packages. I would be surprised if anyone actually cared at these stores. I'm pretty sure the one Walmart I go to is having somebody buy up the blue stripe package TBS Jyn Ersos at Ollie's and returning them to Walmart for whatever the newest waves are. No way a Gamestop/E-tailer exclusive is now flooding Walmart's TBS section randomly. |
