In response to the discussion the other day about old-guy collectors bowing out once we've completed the OG13... I "aged out" of collecting in favor of girls with only a very small set of the 86 lineup, and all of these figures are ones I always regretted not having. Some of them I didn't even get in 3.75" during the 25th through 30th years. Having this group here like this just delights me, and I think I'm going to keep going for a while.

That is how I plan my display too. By ARAH year and I will keep the sub teams together like Night Force that released different years.

I also didn't realize this set is shipping this month, so that's a pleasant surprise.

One thing I haven't decided yet... should Night Force Shockwave replace standard Shockwave in my display? I can already tell he's probably a better figure with those new legs (lt. Dan, new legggs!) and the Night Force deco is more badass in my opinion. On the flip side, the standard deco brings a nice pop of color to the Joe lineup. On the flip flip side, if I don't replace standard deco Shockwave with NF Shockwave, then it means I need to build a Night Force specific cubby / display which means now I gotta figure out where Big Ben and Wolf Spider should go!

Shit is stressful.

To make matters worse, we'll be getting Night Force Crazy Legs and Ripcord too.

I think the right answer is eventually having a NF specific set up once we have more characters in hand. I skipped out on NF Tunnel Rat and Shooter and I'll probably keep it that way, but by the end of the year I'll probably have 6 Night Force characters in hand along with a bike.(Big Ben / Wolf Spider / Shockwave / Falcon / Crazy Legs / Ripcord)

Who knows if it will ever happen (maybe as a retro or as another single release?) but I was a little annoyed and frustrated that this NF Shockwave went for pre-order only a couple of months after the original blue version came out and yet was so much more well done from a design standpoint for the body.

I really hope we see v1 Shockwave revisited using this NF figure's recipe at some point. It would really elevate that version a lot.

It flipping IS. I never had any interest in NF, but all of a sudden I have Shooter (who I think is NF, isn't she?) and BB, and will end up with Ripcord and CrazyLegs by Christmas (one hopes). I can definitely see a universe where eventually I give up and start going through the ones I passed over.

My thing right now is Big Ben is so close to his original coloring I don't really think of him as NF. I know the branding is there, but the only difference from his vintage design is the pants color... I think, and I really like the gray anyhow. I think once Ripcord and Crazy-Legs are available in their retro colors, if they release Big Ben somehow with better accessories or a really appealing color scheme... then I just don't know. Would be weird for me to have characters with different "looks" and NOT use them in some way. And then I know my OCD will just take over and force me to go back for the others. I'm already struggling to resist the Mole Trooper just because that Energon-Zombie look is so rad.

Walmart has NF Tunnel Rat for $17 and NF Big Ben for $21. Not that I am trying to influence your NF section.
